Magpies players face grand final bans over junior footy brawl

Three Western Suburbs Magpies players risk missing next week’s Harold Matthews grand final after the trio were sent off in the dying stages of Saturday’s 20-16 semi-final win against Canberra.
The three players - Thomas Pati, Jeremiah Leatigaga and Kohen Lewis - were marched by the referee after clearing the Magpies bench to storm the field as a push and shove threatened to turn into an all-in brawl with just second left on the clock.
The moment of madness from the Magpies trio has now thrown the club’s grand final preparations into disarray with the players facing suspension over the incident.

Three Wests Magpies players were sent from the field following the ugly last-minute brawl.
The Match Review Committee will review the incident on Monday.
“The incident will be reviewed by the Match Review Committee tomorrow (Monday),” the NSWRL told The Daily Telegraph.
Two NSWRL officials entered the field after the sides were separated to report the Magpies players that rushed from the bench to the referee.
Match officials are also required to report any incidents that occur to the ground manager, who is an NSWRL official.

The melee started after Raiders forward Lachlan Galvin flopped on the back of Magpies backrower Noah Martin, who conceded a tackle as he tried to wind down the clock.

But tensions had threatened to boil over even before the all-in melee as Canberra players niggled at their opposition in the final minutes.
Raiders captain Owen Hromow tackled Magpies fullback Luke Laulilii with a swinging arm but Laulilii, who took exception to the tackle, was dragged away by teammates before that encounter further escalated.
