One word: Leadership.
Our senior players needed to be better in the 2nd half not only with discipline but with leading the way for the young ones. I understand frustration comes into it but they needed to lead by example and didn't.
The bottom line is until we are scoring 20+ points a game then the poor ref decisions will be the difference. If we are scoring more points then the micro bad calls don’t matter.
i am a bit worried about Luai signing. Really we need a genuine 7 alongside Luai doing his thing at 6. Illias might have worked. Now we have a great 6 arriving next year whilst we have potentially the best young 6 in the game playing this year. If Benji wants to play the pressure cooker panthers style then he has his balance wrong in the halves. It will be impossible to unwind this issue.

He was terrible, and getting worse every week. For all the criticism Bateman gets, can’t question his work ethic. I’d move Bateman back to an edge, Ice dropped, Matamua to 13. Got nothing to lose.
Luai will be great at 7, his skills are wasted at Penrith and in that structured attack, he does a job scrambling the defensive line and opening thing up for Cleary and Yeo however I can understand why he wants to get out of that system and show what he is truly capable of. Played a completely different role for Samoa and earlier on in his career when he would fill in for Maloney and cleary when they were out. He is a perfect 7 for a Benji coached team. I'm actually still quite positive about our next 2 - 3 years, yes we could have done what dogs did and recruit experienced first graders who arent good enough to lock down a position but play a utility role, it will win you a few games however is that going to win you a premiership or set up a team that can be competitive for the next 5+ years...I don't think so.
