i think it means we need to recruit that 7 in the next 6 weeks or so because if it gets much later than that, its going to get pretty tight and we cant go into next year with Wakeham as our only half.
I was really hoping that while they were chasing Moses, they were going just as hard at Williams and had him lined up to announce, as soon as Moses turned us down.
Our halves have been a question mark for a long time, and has been a priority project for the last 18 months since Sheens was appointed GM.
When they decided to move Hastings on, they really needed to be confident to land a better 7 straight away.
Given our situation - I'd be offering Warrington $1m transfer fee to get him out immediately.
Without a decent 7, we are going nowhere fast, and the longer we head in this direction, the harder it will be to attract and retain decent players.
Williams now signed until 2026 with warrington
@tiger5150 There is a risk in letting Brooks from the perspective that there are very few established halves around.
In saying that the thing that grinds my gears is mainstream media don't do any research. They don't watch NSW Cup, Q Cup or youth levels. It's quicker and easier for them to toss up lines like 'there's no top line halves out there for the Tigers' or write articles linking us to players like Jack Wighton when Sheens has stated we are not interested.
If Sheens wants to help Benji then he should be searching through lower grade tapes and calling player managers to see what halves we can bring in for the rest of 2023. My honest view is that we needed a new half even BEFORE Doueihi went down.
Most top clubs have one of there forwards ball playing which leaves the main play makers more room, are less predictable and are more creative.
Souths do it well ball playing with Cam Murray, Broncos with Patrick Carrigan, etc.
Watch their next games and look at their shapes (depth). I'll guarentee they score a lot of tries running at pace. But the fast play is after 1-2-3 strong hits bending the line inwards.
This is a great point. It should be obvious to Sheens and the brains trust that the best clubs all play like that. Roosters have Radley in the same role.
My question is - do Sheens and co tell the players to attack flat and with no depth OR is it the players inability to execute the same attacking structure that works well for other teams?
If I had 5 min with the coaches I would love to ask them.

Because of the lack of a ball playing lock and decent halves we need to play our shape off Api, this leads to us being much flatter.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
Your guess is as good as mine champion. There is some benefit in flat attack but only outside 10m as the D has to retreat the full amount. If your winning the ruck then quick hits ups can get the D fatigued. Api has been great catching out lazy or gassed D.My question is - do Sheens and co tell the players to attack flat
BUT, you can't keep playing the whole game like this.
There is a "need for speed"

Exactly what we need right now - and what Sheens should be doing in his role as GM Football- unfortunately he's wearing 2 hats as both GM and coach- and I don't think he has capacity to do both.
As we need both positions performing at 1000% if we are going to get out of this mess
Top 8 2023
Surely McDonnell should be on that track?
Surely McDonnell should be on that track?
Good question - I assume so. But it would need to be in coordination with Sheens?
If he's largely independent, that means the future of our club rests in the hands of McDonnell
Top 8 2023
He is very much Sheens's man
