@the-last-ronin fair call a bit overly defensive of the guy today, apologies to @Tiger1510, @Avo and @mike slightly biased from me today 5/10 probably still is not acceptable

All good @jedi-tiger. Like your loyalties, even if I think they are misplaced.

I was at the game today and, it was hot. And we beat ourselves again for the 3rd game in a row. We have talented players but make too many mistakes and don’t seem to have a proper plan.

Its a good point to remember. I agree with all of the criticism of our team and in particular our halves, its all real and true........but over the last 3 weeks we have completed at less than 69% which is disgraceful. IMO if we got our completions to 85% we win at least two of those games.

@loganr21 mate that’s offensive ! The guy loves the club , and as garbage as he was yesterday , he still offered one of the more attacking weapons . Take front hat what you will .
He’s a good footy player . Someone said we should have moved him to 9 years ago .  That really is the go . Otherwise , put him at 6 let someone else run the show and let him chime in when he wants . Like all 6s should .
At the moment he’s offering more spark than AD.
So he retains a halves spot . AD to the centres for me . Laurie / Staines at the back .
and let’s see how that goes .

@lestronge won’t matter as long as Brooks is in the team … I said he’s like covid to the team. I’d rather say something else that starts with c but that effects way too many ppl and families. I like the guy don’t get me wrong and he has a go…. But please some of us have had enough.

Keep steering the right path

@avocadoontoast he is a 6 and with a 7 with some speed around him he showed what he can do. Thought Brooks had a 5/10 game today

It's an interesting question - if your teams scores 22 points, hasn't the halfback mostly done his job? Personal errors perhaps also a count, but you should win more than half of your games if you score over 20 points.

I did a review once, for gambling reasons, and the exact numbers escape me, but something like: for the NRL circa 2004-2016, the "magic number" for points scored was 19, i.e. you won more than half your games if you scored over 19 points (regardless of defence). If you could get the points up by 1 more try, i.e. 24 points, you won something like 85% of games.

It would seem obvious however, in true Tigers style, that you need to score those 19-24 points earlier in the match, not pile them on at the death. Scoring a lot of points late probably still tends to lead to more than 50% losses, which is classic Tim Sheens.

I would love to have seen Brooks given half a season at dummy half. He's quick, left-footed, good front-on defence, big arse... it seems like a logical position for him, were they not all welded to trying to keep him a halfback.

@loganr21 sorry but that type of dialogue makes you look bad , not The player . I’m at all good to not rate him as a footy player but references to the c word , that’s a bit much .
He’s a good footy player , bad half . So was Johnny Cronk , and half the dummy halves running around .
the most famous of all was Danny Buderus .
And not because it was brooks . Same for the Nofa hate speech . That shit is uncalled for . It’s just a game .

You can reply with “it’s just the forum “ . But imagine how much garbage like that these guys have to deal with , at the shops , on social media , before and after games .
Just because you bought a hat and signed up to a forum membership doesn’t mean you get to say whatever you want .
Critique his footy play . Many of us are . But calling him Covid , and the C word , like I said makes you come across very negatively .

@jirskyr Yep .

He’s so quick and skill full , and such a good tackler ,he might have made a good fullback as well .
And I’ll say this again , he plays for The storm , Roosters  he’s being talked about as an all time great . We absolutely ruined him , and every single player of his generation  who stayed more than 5 years at the tigers .
To the point that as a general rule we should be getting rid of all of them , not because they’re bad footy players , but because the stink of our ineptitude as a football club is all over them .
It’s embarrassing. And shameful that we allowed parasites , narcissists, to infect every level of this club.
Madge started the sweep , and it’s going to take more years to clean all these people on.
Pascow and Lee as well . It has to be a clean sweep .

Agree with the second sentence.

Just on the first - 16 of the points came with Wakeham at #7, and the other 6 came from a 70m intercept.

I agree 100% with what you have said, but would just point out that I think you are both talking about different c words.

@garry  If so , it lessons the blow , but doesn’t really change what I’m saying . And it’s not really an attack on Logan , and I apologise to him if it comes across that way .
It’s more of a criticism of fanaticism in general . More specifically toxic fandom.
This idea that we can say and do whatever , justified by own love/ obsession with a sports team/ musician / podcaster (haha) etc.

It’s another byproduct of the digital age we live in . The all access type coverage , and broadcasters obsession with more and more .
It started with things like Paris Hilton/ reality tv / the kardashians , and now filters into all aspects of sport/ media etc. Under the thin veneer of promotion or brand exposure .

And we all lap it up , and start justifying our obsessions with comments like “well he’s on 1 mil a year , it comes with the territory”.
I dunno is pretty sick when you really think about it.

I literally was over the game  just after dinner on Sunday .I’m not special ,  that’s because I’m very aware of the guy who threw away his missus hand and almost had a fight with a roosters fan when Fulton threw that intercept in 2010.
We suck . We look like we might be pretty close to not sucking if we get some halves .
It’s patronising , but it really is just a game .
For 80 mins and maybe an hr either side of the game , we should all live and die this stuff .
But death threats , disgusting rhetoric , racist taunts , Telling your halfback he sucks , with all your mates , then bitching 1 hr later when he justifies all your rhetoric is all just a snake eating it’s own tale . A self fulfilling prophecy of misery .
I love the club we all do , but if you’re sitting there with a Luke brooks voodoo doll , and cursing his existence on Monday . That shit is not healthy !

Yeah mate, I agree with you fully. It is something I am very aware of on the pod to try and keep my comments about the game and try and not get personal, it is something that is very difficult and I sometimes find myself listening back and not liking some of my comments. It actually happened with the latest pod with me regretting a couple of things I said.

We also see the otherside of it as well with everyone on the pod copping some interesting comments online. To me it is pretty simple, talk all you want about how someone played, but as soon as it goes beyond that and is personal or you are directing it directly at them then you have crossed a line. If you are hurling abuse over the fence at someone that is next level again and you probably need to take a look at your behaviour and the reason for it.

Tbh I think you all strike a very good balance between emotive responses as fans and calculated analysis as folk with a public voice. I understand that's very much a hard line to walk, and something I definitely could not do - especially in the immediate aftermath of a game!

Long story short, keep up the good work.
