@garry IMO Douehi is just above reserve  grade quality is  slow .. bad defence .. bad passing .. non footy brain and way to invested in himself . He will struggle to hold his spot after round 10!

He seems to be only interested in the highlight reel.

he only gets interested 20m out 15m in from touch dummying for a right foot step.

@tiger5150 Brooks has probably always been a running 6.

The caveat on wakeham is he did come on when players were tired so possibly might have made him look better than he was. He was certainly good enough to oust Douihie next week

Brooks will be here in 2024 has shown enough today to be the 6 and I still think he might yey bring his little mate from Parramatta over here too

@tiger5150 Brooks at 6 on a reduced deal is a good signing, as a 6 only.

Jedi, Ive already responded to this but Im going to double up, and its not an attack on you. Brooks could very easily lose in the game of musical chairs at the moment and I suspect he can blame his manager.

Moses has a massive offer in the table from us and Parra, i dont see the Tigers pulling it despite the fact that moses value is decreasing week by week. AD has a contract for 2024 signed before the rot set in. For whatever reason, despite all the right  words coming out of Concord, Brooks has not re-signed and his value is dropping like a stone. not a great market for Brooks right now.

@avocadoontoast overlook Brooks runs etc like last week's 40/20 all Brooks needs is a 7 and I think it will be Moses in 2024. Showed exactly what a good running 6 he was today problem is for 60 mins he had no halves partner. As far as a running 6 goes Brooks is a very God option for the club in 2024 and beyond we just need the 7.

@garry

Agree. There has to be consequences for a game like that. Doueihi has to go, but he will be fullback next week.

Wakeham is interesting. Looking way better then I have ever seen him. Hope he wears the 7 next week and does the goal kicking.

@tiger5150 the problem with Brooks apparently deal is the length of contract that he wants. Do think something will be worked out probably after Easter e.g. Parramatta game or the bye. If it is not then a club will puck up a good 6 but not a 7.

As for AD we are stuffed with that deal

@tiger5150 Brooks has probably always been a running 6.

He has played 6 all of this year as well as last year when Hastings played with him. He is playing worse this year that every other year for the last 10 years. That has nothing to do with the number on his back. I have been a massive Brooks fan. Reality bites.

No. The players he put through holes were also tired, he simply got himself in the right positions and didnt pass behind then or above them.

Does Brooks have a contract for 2024? Does Doueihi? Seems to me that AD, Brooks, Wakeham and Moses are all live options for 6 & 7 next year. Ad has the advantage of having a contract, Wakeham has the advantage of costing roughly a quarter of what Brooks is on, Moses has the advantage of being a good player. not a strong market for Brooks right now.

@doug-heffernan I don't know if you can drive Douihie, unless we could somehow blood bula.

The only benefit might be if he is in reserves then someone might sign him this year and take the contract for 2024 (he is representing himself) with all the injuries you wonder is a Melbourne might come knocking

When Brooks took a hit up on the last 20m out from the line, was that Doueihis fault? When he threw the pass a metre behind AJ, Doueihis fault? That last set of six when he couldnt pass to Wakeham, Doueihis fault?

Well I hope that puts to rest the view that Brooks and Douhie can play together in the halves. No coincidence that last year our wins against rabbits and eels came without those two playing in the halves together. Sure, Wakeham isn’t a fantastic 7 but he definitely is a 7. In the space of a couple of sets after he came on you could see him doing just basic things to get his outside man into a gap. It’s criminal how badly our halves have been at using Papi in attack in previous weeks. Wakeham is just doing basic things that 7s do and we look a million times better even after playing for 60min in the heat.

Halves next week should be wakeham 7, brooks 6. Douhie either has to play as a slow fullback or move to the centre, his defence and passing at the line is disgraceful. I’d probably say play him at 1 just so that you can get advantage of his running game in attack. Tupou and Staines are miles better than Noffa (he really needs to be sent to the UK). Naden and whoever in the centres (toa did nothing today).

1. douhie

2. Staines

3. Naden

4.

5. Tupou

6. Brooks

7. Wakeham

i thought Api was immense today, the guy is a class above anything we have and he played his guts out. Stephano played better and I thought our back row did its job and didn’t make any real mistakes. Joffa is the one that I feel is letting down the pack at the moment, he’s lacking any impact in attack or defence and he is making errors. Twal is doing a better job than Joffa, particularly in yardage.

AD to reserves for me

I would be amazed, but I agree. AD can not be 6 or at least we can not have him and Brooks there again.

I really don't like AD at 1 and he can't play 6.

Im with you. both Laurie and Staines leave a lot to be desired but both are better than AD at fullback. Simply too slow to make a difference from the back.

we did not miss Laurie at all today.

We need better than both Staines and Laurie.

And Sheens/Marshall/Pascoe/Chairman Mouth (Lee) and Board.

And if Moses doesnt come (most likely option) what makes you think Brooks is staying when Wakeham is playing better at a 4th of the cost?

@tiger5150 you make it out Brooks played a 2/10 game. If it wasn't for his backing up and speed we wouldn't have scored some of those tries.

@tiger5150 because if Moses doesn't come brooks will be signed as the 6 mate. Once a deal is done they can restructure the deal etc like a chris Lawrence situation potentially pay some of it in 2023 cap. I would say 90% sure Brooks will be here in 2024

Honestly I do not think Brooks will leave sydney so that limits his options. Do think it will be a big name half like Moses or Williams that will join him at 7.

Brooks was a 1/10 game. But AD was a 0/10.
