We are short on troops and playing an understrength powerhouse, lets establish that as a baseline. Very disappointing level of effort and commitment. So many times Storm simply outcompeted us for the ball. Bateman was outstanding all night, Bula did well, Papali'i possibly his biggest effort in our colours. Big effort by Noffa as well. Blore a much improved effort.

Cant believe people accepting Wakehams performance, he was rubbish. TDS didnt have a good night but I can see a first grader in there (not yet).

Im going to say something counter intuitive. Tim Sheens is a GREAT coach. This team is under the pump, under staffed, no halves, out best prop out, backs against the wall. The style of attack we used for the first 20 in second half with changing angles, different runners, isolating NAS etc, was GREAT coaching and it worked for that time but we ran out of puff and ability but that period had Sheens all over it.

A great coach would of had our halves situation sorted

A great coach would of not let the 2nd half of last year happen, which led to the bad 1st half of this year

Β

To me, our situation isn't on the players, I feel sorry for them big tine. And I think we have a great team expect for our halves - which is the coaches fault

What can I say that hasn’t been said a million times before?

Amateur club run by dinosaurs and sycophants. We’re in deep trouble but it will be rinse and repeat all over again.

The sooner Sheens is gone the better , at this stage of the season and still playing Β this terrible brand of footy is appalling. The coaching team is a failure and Benji wants to have a long hard think about his future !

Β

Ok lets get serious. "This terrible brand of footy"?Β  Three weeks ago we scored 66 against a top 8 side, competive against Raiders, playing good footy. We literally have our starting (round 1) spine out injured and even still whilst we were fresh in the first 10-15 mins in the second half playing great exciting footy. I accept criticism of letting Hastings go (although do we get Klemmer, our best prop without him going?) but the footy Sheens is coaching into this team is a LOT better than the footy we have been playing for 4 years (IMO).

@frullens The stats actually point what your saying is correct … it’s all about coaching . A team that has zero idea how to get a ball back from a short goal line kick off but continues to use it and the opposition scores every time this is Brain dead coaching it’s a joke ! This is one example of what the mind set is from the fools in the coaches box !

OK to clarify my meaning, Id say that a great "manager" would ensure that we had halves and depth in the halves for this year (mind you take the first choice halves out of any NRL team and see how they go). What Iam talking about is coaching, not management. This team in this moment of time have big problems and Sheens had them playing dangerous football at times, that looked different to anything we have played this year let alone the last 5 years. you reckon the players worked that out? Have you seen that in our team since 2012? If so, examples?

Fair enough, what the hell does that have to do with me? What excuses did I make? What part of "Very disappointing level of effort and commitment. So many times Storm simply outcompeted us for the ball" screams excuses to you?

I think there are serious issues with the coaching tbh.

Our red zone attack is historically inept and has been all season, regardless of who has been wearing 6 & 7.Β

We cannot defend kicks go save our lives and have conceded about a thousand tries from kicks.Β

Defensive resilience has been better at times but mostly just as bad as prior years.Β

Bench selection and usage is puzzling week after week.Β

Β

There's definitely been positives (Bula being the outstanding example), but there absolutely should be questions raised over the coaching team.Β

Ultimately we are 3 from 14 and well on course for back to back spoons. It's not good enough.Β

@tiger5150Β

I am excited by some of the play we can put on, particularly from around mid way.

But then we also do a lot of things, which look like we aren't coached at all.

You watch storm with essentially a 2nd grade team and everyone knows their role and they score by stripping up for numbers.

At the end of the day we are 3 wins - same as when madge got sacked this time last year. (And madge had a huge injury list too to point at)

It's great to have exciting play, but when can only score 1 try off a bomb - it's a worry and it's due to our halvesΒ

@tiger5150Β

But mate, I think if we did have some decent halves that could execute - Sheens, Benji and Ribbie would be having so much fun, coming up with plays and we'd be setting the comp alight.

Β

That's what's so frustratingΒ

I thought they tried really hard, lost their way a bit and then just couldn't get any luck. The LHS defence was obviously woeful and Storm were clinical with every opportunity they got. The harder we tried the worse it got.

But I thought there was a good 40 mins of genuine effort, undone by a lack of class / finishing. Then in some key moments some players were found out badly, whereas some guys like Bula and IP had really strong nights. I feel sorry for those blokes who really tried hard, when you had Naden doing nothing and Junior Toops a really unhappy night all around with his D and ball handling.

Toa-Kepaoa-Tupou would be one of the worst edge defences we've fielded in a long time.

Mate if people cant see the difference in the style of play this year as opposed to 3 years under Madge, i cant help them.

My word for this game is Comedic. Twal scoring his first and our only try for the entire game, and the crowd screaming Tawly, Tawly, Tawly… Bateman doing a falcon and another time throwing the ball away. Da Silva had a great first game (he’s better than Jake) and the hill going off when he came on… but we still lose. Our left edge leaking points like a sieve. You can’t write stuff like this.Β
