Ugly game but a wins a win!

One mans ugly is another mans gutsy

They were gutsy as hell but we should have won the game easy. Better halves and this team is capable of troubling anyone.

I think the positive is the club is out here looking for halves.

@garry definitely. We’re starting to click as a unit. With some decent halves this club will be great to watch. It’s exciting.

@tiger5150 peachey owed us one last week. Suli gave us a win this week. Are there any ex tigers playing for the rabbitohs willing to get us over the line next week?

the so called beast M Chee-Kam could be our saviour there. Can’t believe he’s in the starting team. I said early in season if he was starting side I’d back the opposition. That plan hasn’t worked of late, but he’s in a good unit and he’s doing his job. But hope he helps score a few for us next round.

I remember seeing a bloke wearing a blues jersey at an origin match in 2015 with “1 in a row” on his back.

@avocadoontoast did you think Brooks had a bad game mate ?
I saw you ask a question earlier about the up and unders, implying they’re bad kicks , and asking why ?
It’s a tactic to force the defence to slug it out from their line , backing your defence . It can be viewed as a negative play , but it also is a chance to force some real pressure on the defence .

The most hectic one I can remember was  when in origin , NSW whacked someone/ a fight started . And qld put it up to belt the fullback and really put some shots in.
I’ts not a bad play if you think you can force the opposition into an error .
The reason they kicked to the corners against Penrith was because their back 3 can absolutely burn you on kick returns and yardage . Outside of Ravilawa , that’s not really the case for saints . Which is why they kicked to him . So he was taking the tackle first . Then the following tackles had to be the other backs . Therefore limiting their yardage .

Ravilawa gets 150 , sure , but they spend the whole day kicking from halfway at best . Usually their own 40. .

Brooks didn't have a bad game but the halves are still our biggest weakness.

On the last play of the game I was wanting Wakeham to absolutely belt it dead. Don’t think they would have gotten another play in if he did. It didn’t matter in the end up something for feedback for next time.

The game matched the standing of the two sides; 15 v 17. At least there could be some upside to the Tigers over the rest of the season, I'm not sure about the Dragons though. Not that I'll lose any sleep over that.

@mercy-rule it was a bottom 4 battle for sure. Must win to avoid the spoon type of game.

Correct. Going to have to keep winning these types of games and knock off another high-flyer along the way.

I implied they are bad kicks because I think they are bad kicks, I reckon i'd be able to catch them. I understand the strategy but pretty much every other half in the comp that employs that strategy tries to put the player they're kicking to under pressure. They do floaters, spirals, whatever. His are just sitters direct to the player - I can't ever recall someone dropping a Brooks bomb. Bombs are not Brooks strength, they never have been. He's far better at kicking to the corners and finding some grass. His last kick yesterday is what he should have been doing all game.

I don't think Brooks had a bad game yesterday. I don't think he was anywhere near as good as he was the week before  where he took control, but he was fine. I agree with Garry that halves are our biggest problem and we won't be contenders until both halves are upgraded.

I'm still buzzing from yesterday's game.

Bula was the highlight. We'd be 0-9 if he wasn't there the last couple of weeks. His positional play after only 3 NRL games is unbelievable. The guy is a star already.

Forward pack were excellent again. Klemmer was massive and Papali'i did some effort plays yesterday that were just complete determination. Twal is playing in the best form of his career. I'm worried about Joe O though. Last year he was our pack leader and I think this year he's the weak link. Maybe he's still lacking a bit of conditioning but it's very noticeable when he comes on.

Nofo is my least favourite Tigers player but last week he played well and yesterday he was even better. Really good performance. Outside of the one error Tupou was great.

To'a was another player I had absolutely zero opinion of but he is a legit NRL centre. He and Naden are our first choice centres imo.

Other than missing touch I thought Wakeham's kicking game was very good, and we're getting value out of him. I thought Brooks was pretty good yesterday too but he didn't take control like the previous week.

No idea why Matamua didn't get a go over Seyfarth. Seyfarth is completely ineffective.

Looking forward to Saturday night. Not expecting us to win but looking forward to the contest.

Ive looked at our draw and after Souffs, there are quiet a few opportunities to sneak a win here and there
