@crowsnest he’s always got these creative projects he wants to do. At the moment he’s been doing a podcast on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He wanted to do it after listening to a young girl do one on Pokemon. He goes in and out of interest/attention with these things but I just try and nurture them without any pressure as he can lose control emotionally pretty easily when things are challenging. Trying to build some successes for him to lean into.

@the-last-ronin  Mate get him on "Sunrise" quick and I'll go halves in the royalties 🤣

Can you PM me one day and teach me how to put a vid on YouTube? Not now because my head's not clear.

I'd like to do one on headstone cleaning and restoration....yeh I know it reflects my personality 🤣

I’d love to help you out but my wife set up the account and put the videos up.

@the-last-ronin  All good mate, since that post I actually did a Google search and from what I saw it's not beyond me 🤣

I'll post my first one the forum, it will be on grave restoration but knowing me I'll stuff it up and might end up like a comedy ha ha (with Benny Hill background music and x4 speed)

@crowsnest either way I’ll watch it. I’m interested in the grave restoration and how you’ll present it. There’s a dude on there who does videos of mowing peoples lawns so there’s a market for everything

@crowsnest thanks mate, it’s a rare syndrome (last I heard there were about 2000-3000 cases in the world), but it’s pretty similar to Angelmans, just a different chromosome deletion. Damian Cook does some work with those guys and his interview with the footy show a few years back was pretty spot on: https://youtu.be/TvDVktlqUSc

Best support I have found is linking in with other dads with pms kids. Not too many of us in Australia, but we still manage to get together now and then. Unfortunately some of them are afl fans or worse, parra fans, but I just need to look past that.

Very interesting yarn brother. I haven't really come across Phelan McDermid Syndrome. Thanks for sharing.

I'm in my mid sixties now and all my children are 40+

I've noticed in myself a desire to learn as much as I can which I think is a human trait to combat what age does to one's self. A defence mechanism I guess.

I also love nature and wildlife docos, probably for the same reason. Learning from others like you and the other forumers makes me feel well equiped to give my 20¢ worth to younger folk, namely my children and soon 8 grand children.

I'm interested to know if people get on with their neighbours. When I was growing up in Cobar our street was a little community. We were a bit like neighbourhood watch. My dad and mates rotated driving everyone to the mines and back home.

The girls also baby sat if someone was sick, shared vegetables and passed down clothes. There wasn't any need for forums. So my interest is.... does this sort of thing still happen.

The BBQ is a good setting to chat and air one's frustrations, misfortunes, good news or whatever. I know some of my kids don't even know who their neighbours are, which is a shame.

As we grow older, the need to have a couple of really close friends is soooo important IMO. 🤜🤛

@the-last-ronin  If your talking about the guy in the USA who goes around cleaning up people's neglected yards for free then I've seen several episodes mate. Absolutely brilliant.

This idea prompted me to think about community service.

I don't now what community service entails these days but I couldn't think of a better way to give back to society than to visit nursing homes and play chess with the elderly or like the above.... help clean up a yard belonging to a physically or mentally challenged person.

We are talking about health issues here and showing interest and assisting the elderly or disabled folk is going to improve their health and wellbeing.

I did this for years stemming from visiting my mum and dad in nursing homes but now the boots on the other foot somewhat.

Winning this afternoon is going to help my mental health big time. 🙂🤞
