ANZAC DAY as we know marks the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand soldiers at Gallipoli in Turkey on April 25, 1915.
Since then it has become somewhat of a symbol of national pride.
In these modern times with so many changing and new beliefs and lifestyles we can lose sight of what has helped us forge the nation as we know it.
It's a special day for me as I'm a returned serviceman and my family name is rich in military history. I have several relatives who have either served and/or been wounded or killed in action, also two missing in action.
This ANZAC Day is my second year in a row where I can't go to Dawn Service or March due to illness which is upsetting me. Still I will pray for them and be eternally grateful for their sacrifice.
THE ODE
They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest We Forget
(This is my little remembrance scene set up outside my garage where I'll listen to the dawn service.)
@garry Nice Garry. What time is the march set to start at Glenbrook mate?
