My one word is tactics.

We looked like we didn't have any. I love how together the team looks but it was like when we had Tedesco and the plan was to give him the ball and hope something happened. Not sure whether they gave the ball to Galvin or he called for it but it was a very poor plan.

One word is Better

We were better then I expected given 3 19 yr olds in the spine, 5th choice centre in faatape and missing half our spine. I expected Knights to win but was very impressed we only let in 10 points and with Toa, Bula, Api all back next week I am more excited for the season then I was before that game just unfortunate we couldn't grab the 2 points

Having just watched the Thrive or survive doco, I am wondering what they actually took out of that camp if we're missing 60 odd tackles in a game? Is it over exuberance? Flying into a tackle with the wrong technique? Or an effort thing?

As others have said, once the spine is back to full strength and Luai & Galvin have a few more games together I think we'll be okay. There were definitely green shoots visible.

Because we more often than not don’t win the collision, and line speed is continually poor.

My one word is: reality. A reality check after lots of hype.

I couldn't help but feel very disappointed and frustrated, and sad for Benji and Terrell May.

The depth of our attack (or lack thereof) is really bizarre

More than happy to let JL and LG play eyes up stuff a fair bit, but we need to change things up at times and run with some depth and shape. Make some defenders guess.

Sadly that is a coaching issue.

Think we need Jarome to get in Benji's ear to make some changes in our attacking shape.

One word - energy

We seemed to be out of it late in the second half when we really needed it.

Forum is very quiet.

thought this quote from the other forum was spot on:

“The issue is not the playing group - it’s that we don’t have any structure in attack and it’s the same repeat as last year.

Honestly - we didn’t even throw one simple block play.

We have mason who’s small and quick and has a good step - why wouldn’t they run a block play and have him playing out the back to see if he can get outside the defense or step inside?

It’s not the players

It’s the basic 101s that everyone is complicating about and it all comes down to everyone sceptical of benjis coaching ability …

He has yield us 3 wooden spoons, the worst attacking team in the comp and one of the worst defensive teams AND we have better players this year.

Everyone is hopeful it will turn around but there’s nothing in round 1 that suggests our attack has improved“

I mostly agree. We didn’t look a well coached and well drilled side on Friday. In saying that, a few other issues come to mind for me and that’s winning the collision and the lack of quality NRL players in a few positions.

If I can stomach it i might watch the game again, our second phase play was horrible, we were the dominant forward pack, however whenever our forwards offloaded  i seem to recall it was to another forward, Mason and our outside backs were MIA. We need to be better. Also a shit show between Galvin and Luai, not sure if Galvin was over calling the ball, however his swing from right to left was telegraphed to the knights defence.....and we kept going left in the attacking red zone with Galvin outside luai....he needs to stick to the right and keep the defence in 2 minds...maybe swing left on a fast play the ball on tackles 1 - 4 however not on the last...Ponga read us like a bloody golden book.
