90% of our issue is in the forwards. Too many guys who don’t punch through the line - generally no impact, toilers and a couple of plodders.
Papali will be a good addition, Stefano fit and healthy too - but this needs to be the priority.

I tend to agree Mike. I think Sheens is doing a good job but Pascoe is very fortunate to still be employed.
And Lee is a major conflict of interest. There is no way he can put the club first before his own business/sponsorship needs.

The biggest impact on our club the board has been involved in was appointing Cleary, which could have been the turning point but Cleary himself turned it into a disaster which did set us back years no question. Of course the board & CEO could do things better but one thing I'll say is they havent sat on their hands. When it was going south under JT, they got Cleary. Post Cleary disaster they got a 2 x premier winning coach. The previous boards got us Potter and Taylor. When it was clear Madge was struggling, they didnt sack him, they appointed Sheens to support Madge and remove Pascoe and the board from the running of the Football side of things. When it was clear there was no improvement and next years recruitment was about to be destroyed, they took the hard step and sacked Madge. Harsh but the right decision.
Yes you have correctly listed some superficial things like Lee talking in the media (do you seriously think that impact any negotiation?) but in the actual steps they have taken when things have been hard, IMO most of the big decisions have been right (sacking JT, appointing Cleary, appointing Madge, appointing Sheens, sacking Madge). The board can be improved (Lee and Pascoe wouldnt be the first I wouldnt be the first I'd sack) but they are not our biggest problems and more importantly they are not the most effective change we can make to improve our on field performances.
Bottom line is that this years squad is the best squad we have had for 4-6 years. Last years was probably the 2nd best. We have gotten worse each year. Madge is not my mate, don’t even know the guy. Success starts at the front office and our front office is a failure. And yes Lee’s involvement has directly impacted players not coming here.
Wests Tigers as a club is soft as. The players are soft, the management are soft. Madge was trying to harden the club and players up. He was prevented from doing so by the front office. Some players don’t like being told and whinged and tried to wait out the coach. They got their way. So yes I blame the front office. If Madge wasn’t the right coach for the Wests Tigers then Pascoe should never had hired him in the first place. If Madge was not the right coach then his contract should never have been extended. Pascoe has no clue. Either way the front office is absolutely responsible for where we are now, but they will deflect any blame.
Our soft as attitude will now continue unabated. This is what we needed to fix more than anything else. It’s the attitude that stinks the place out. It’s the culture of the placed passed down from player to player, manager to manager and so on. We may fluke a finals berth from time to time but it will never be anything other than fleeting. Why? Because we are soft and don’t have the professionalism to be anything else. Unless that changes Wests Tigers will forever be a ‘B’ team. The current systems in place won’t fix that, Sheens won’t fix that, his initial tenure is actually a major reason we are soft. The players ran the club during his stay.
The funny thing is they haven’t even signed a replacement coach yet. All wishful thinking at this point. It will be interesting to see who we end up with.

The "your mate" thing was a bit of a personal jab and not needed, sorry for that. YOu are entitled to your opinion, but I disagree with it.
As far as "soft" is concerned, again I think its a cop out. Its like we are talking about 8 year olds. Adult, mature professional players do not need a "hard" task master to "fix' the attitude. "Tough talking" and swearing at players is just embarrassing and I dont blame some of the players for not responding. Based on what we saw on the docu, I'd simply cringe if I was a player. Professional players just need a GOOD coach. If they are confident that the selections, tactics, training methods, recruitment and retention are competent, then they will be confident and follow. If the man leading them shows repeated incompetence, intransigence, no improvement, no changes and just keeps screaming and swearing at you....they will clock out and ours did a long time ago and no one is signing up for it.
I dont want a "tough" coach. I want a good coach and as soon as the players click that the coach knows what they are doing and have a path forward, they will fall in behind. Penrith is the yard stick adn they have a boring speaker as a coach and Ciraldo seems to be softly spoken as well.

We do need to talk to some of them like they are 8 year olds because that is how some of them behave. Some don’t behave like adults at all and don’t at all like being told. It’s not the tough talking and swearing that made Maguire tough. (Remember you are seeing a highly edited version of the doco which I assume you are referring too[that’s all about ratings]). It’s instilling in the players what you need to do to win. Putting in that extra effort when you are busted. Going that extra when you think you can’t. Looking out and supporting your team mates. Not the I’ve done my job so it must be your fault attitude. I call the latter the Public Service attitude (no offence to any public service forum members). You see Twal, Hastings, Doueih, Ofahengaue and Steff (and a couple of others) are the exact opposite of this.
Personally I don’t think Crialdo is the right candidate. Our club and I think our team will run all around him. We are not the Panthers with a strong Board and CEO to back him up. We don’t have a Brandy et al with football knowledge commanding the ship. We have people that are good at running successful entertainment/casino clubs and a marketing manager as our CEO. It will only take a couple of players to run to their favourite Board member and it will be all over. But I’ll be happy to be proven wrong in all this.
The reason Wests Tigers are soft is because you can’t hold the players, or management the for that matter, accountable. They get their pay check run onto the field and do the minimum. I won’t say that is all players but it is a few. They clock off after they have done their bit. If you try and correct the behaviour they dog it, making the coach look bad. Or they whinge to the Board or CEO which neither know any better. Every other NRL team knows we are soft. No team fears us. This has been going on since before Sheens left.
I think they reason some run out of puff is because they don’t put in 100%. Some never try and extend themselves and so they are never ever fully match fit. You see them walking around the field. It really bugs me. They put in a bit of effort but that’s it, rest time. But that’s my opinion. You see Hasting ordering them around now and that has helped, he doesn’t let them slack off and if they do he gives them what for.
Anyway let’s hope you are right and I am wrong otherwise it’s gonna be several more years of misery.
