Pascoe is far too lightweight to be an effective CEO. We need a strong CEO that understands rugby league. A strong CEO wouldn’t have signed off on $1m for Brooks and a 4 year extension for Nofo.
We don't know what Brooks is on - it's all speculation and most of it is based around him being back ended to help out. On the Nofo deal, he'd just been named winger of the year and was considerably cheaper than equivalent players at the time. The coach is who would be recommending these signings.
Who do you put in and what do they achieve this year? If the answer is nothing, why would we make a large payout for no reason?

What coaches are available for next year? If we could sign a Bellamy I'd be all over it but I can't see anyone of quality available. And then we go through two or three years of "I need to build my own squad".

Then he stepped it up the following year, to press into the 8. By seeking better defence and dropping players if they had bad games - commentator's praised him. We had eggshells from the player group who pushed back on being accountable.
We needed to change the culture of the group.

That’s baloney we went backwards because he’s an awful coach and it’s why we’ve gone backwards every year since to be now at the stage where we’ve lost our last 8 in a row and can barely score a point.

Re Nofo; he's been our top metre eater for years, always figures in most tackle breaks, was Dally M winger of the year, was top 5 in the 'other' forum's player polls for the past few years and is the top try scorer for the club. I know you have a deep hatred for him and that's fine, but calling him a 'fraud' simply isn't accurate. He's one of the few players we have who would walk into another first grade side.

To your first point, I think the CEO should absolutely have an input and say on contract details from a length and amount perspective. Coaches aren’t good managers of the salary cap. Pascoe can’t make an input on those things because he has no football knowledge at all. And that’s the problem.
Nofo has always been a poor defender and never fast. He’s also always been a liability under the high ball. So why on earth would any person sign him to a 4 year extension at 28? He’s not going to get any better. I also don’t think he’d get a gig at any other team. At the moment he’s the worst winger in the nrl, easily. He’s hopeless.
