Bit hard for Madge to use Seyfarth when he wasn't in the 17..
Lol, I didn't think he was but had been away all weekend.

Thanks mate.

Madge has copped it royale from the pod for his press conferences. Especially his "we're not far off where we need to be" comments.
Question: Was he right? Just how close or far were we from that first win?
I've only been able to watch replays for most games this season and have heard and read extremely negative comments about our performance but when watching replays without emotion, to me we never seemed as bad as made out.
So my own comment is that personally I didn't feel we were that far off either.

We are one from 5 and a long way from where we need to be.

Question for the panel tonight
We were a drop ball from Laurie and Madden (or 2 non video ref calls) away from winning ugly against Warriors and Gold Coast.
If we had of won both those games, we'd currently be sitting ninth, having just knocked off 3rd place Parra and looking on the improve with Hastinhs coming into 7
My question is, if we had of played the exact same way but had won 3 out of 6 and sitting 9th - would you be feeling differently about our season?

Agree Barra
The way the boys played on the weekend- it's as if they trusted in the process, kwpt working hard and things turned around.
I heard a player interveiw (either Hastings or Tamou) sating when Parra came back into the game - the talk behind the tryline was trust in the game plan - because the other tight games the boys panicked and tried miracles.
While it sounds cloche and repetitive - what madge says about sticking with process and keep working hard - is the only way to turn the situation around.
The alternative is everyone tries to do it them selves or stops putting in for each other.
Credit to everyone at the club for putting in that performance- you don't fluke that type of game.

We have had those types of games in the last 12 months and failed to back them up, the next 3 weeks are critical to determine if Sunday was really a step forward. Its a positive sign but doesn't mean much until we repeat it.

On the ladder of course, but what about on the field last Monday? We beat Parra with a couple of our best out.
To clarify, my question is about our first win and Madge's comments about the team performance not being far off where it needed to be. Interested in the opinions of all on the podcast.

I know we've had good games before and then not followed it on
But I'm not sure if weve had a game like that - where we went on to beat a top 4 team that played well and not under strength. And won with a clutch play at the bell
We lost to souths on the bell
Beat under strength panthers
Competed at times with raiders and Eels.
But the fact we actually stepped up and won the game - hopefully gives all the boys a new confidence that they can repeat that effort every week.
On Gus Gould's podcast this week - he told the story about when Hastings arrived at Salford. They had a pre season meeting and were discussing what succes looked like - most players were saying 'avoid relegation' and 'win more than last year'. Then Hastings stands up and says win the grand final. And they did go all the way to the Grand Final.
Fingers crossed this year and that game is different and it leads onto a competitive year this year and making a big step up next year.

My point is one win is too early to make that decision.

4 or 5 loses is too early to make a call too.
It's a 25 round season with lots to happen yet.
We could still come last and not win another game - or play like we did on the weekend and make the finals.
But that game, Hastings at 7, AD and Ute coming back soon - all give me a lot of hope we will play better and improve over the season

Long time listener, first time poster!
My question is - Are we still in the hunt for Nikora for 2023? If not, are we going after a 2nd rower or looking to develop from within? Bit of a worry when our best three 2nd rowers have all signed elsewhere in the same year...

Thanks Norsington, welcome! We might have some signing news/an update in the next week.
