I listened while out walking this morning. A good hit out by a tried and true lineup. The mid week crew will have to come up with something special if they are going to get a guernsey in the starting line up in the season proper. 😀

So looking forward to seeing something more like our top squad against the Eels on Friday. Hopefully the rumoured injury clouds are just rumours. We will know more this afternoon.

Selection of backline and bench seem to be still pretty open for Round 1.

Line speed was abysmal… non existent at times. If the NRL side play like that we’ll get slaughtered. Glad it was just the cup side.

Mason is unimpressive. I don’t think he is anywhere near NRL standard. He is not a Hodgo.

Feledy is not NRL standard and most likely never will be.

Faataape is just NRL standard but needs big improvements in defence and positioning play. Things he can work on.

I would be putting turuva at fullback round 1 if bula not available or olam

1. turuva

2. Staines

3. naden

4. Starford To'oa / AD

5. Skelton

I tend to agree, no offence to Mason but I think Turuva brings more.

I agree and I will offend Mason because he doesn’t have what it takes. At least not yet.

While I’m not a fan of AD in the halves this week, one of the upsides might be that he is loud enough to put Galvin in his place a little. At least more demanding than latu. Hopefully it doesn’t go the other way and he doesn’t get the ball at all. It will be interesting to watch.

my preferences for fullback would be:

  1. Bula
  2. mason (just)
  3. Turuva
  4. staines
  5. naden

100. Brandon tumeth

101. AD

With klemmer gone, I’m more comfortable with Twal in the 17. We’ve slowly shed the players who are low impact but reliable metres eaters and in defence. You can’t have a team full of impact players, you also need some glue.

Bula will not be fit for round 1
