@jedi-tiger im not saying Madden is that good, what I’m saying is that he’s performed pretty much as well as Brooks has and would be earning a fraction of the money and also has plenty of potential improvement in him.
Theres a fairly strong argument for saying he should be in the first grade team to see his much he can improve.
Won’t happen though as Brooks is now undroppable but he deserves an opportunity before we throw him in the bin.

With respect Helmesy, it is irrelevant because Madden is off contract and Brooks isnt so the practicalities of the situation is that even if we can get rid of Brooks, his cost to leave on our cap plus Maddens contract will be the same cost as keeping Brooks and letting Madden go, and Brooks is a better player than Madden.

He’s a fair player just doesn’t have any footy smarts. Wests Tigers need a smart organising half back, someone who can control the game and knows how to close out a game, and that’s just not Brooks.

Brooks is the status quo. Keeping Madden and getting rid of Brooks does not progress the status quo in any respect. Playing ability or cap money. In this scenario only, we are better off with the status quo.

It’s a bit chicken and the egg though. Who would come here as half given the support for Brooks? I think Brooks needs to go first to show our hand. Certainly his contract should not be renewed.
