Need to repeat this here...

This does my head in..Hastings played the halfback role yesterday.. it didn't work very well..

Hastings had 60 receipts of the ball yesterday 2/3rds more than Brooks with 46 .. the number 6 or 7 they wear is irrelevant.. the attack did not flow as well as it did against Melbourne.. any combinations Brooks/Tuilagi Hastings/Leilua ...was wasted after 1 game

He may or may not be a half back Hastings, but his touches are light years ahead of Brooks. He actually can read a game and it’s such a shame he’ll be suspended cause I’m not sure where our points will come from.

How'd that go on Sunday..he was the halfback then..

I thought he was our best player in the game.. yet there was no points

Hastings first 20-25 minutes were poor. He dug in and played better than anyone else for the rest of the game. He was the best player on the field. Brooks doesn’t want to be here any more and it shows.  Best for everyone if he leaves.

But it is. They played traditional(old school) 5/8 and halfback (not left & right), which I don’t mind, but Brooks took the opportunity to go into hiding. Where as Hasting did everything he could to get us in the front foot and Brooks didn’t. The difference was glaring.

I've never thought it mattered much about the jersey number for the halves. It's not like the old days of half, FE, IC, OC etc.

I hate to play the 'if' game but whilst I think we played poorly, I don't think it was deserving of slit wrists. Realistically, we should have scored from the Hastings break. If Gildart passes the ball back inside to Hastings rather than stepping back behind him we score under the posts. Stefano clearly should have scored and if JTJ pulls the trigger on his break we probably score there as well.  We get to 26-22 and suddenly we're not as dire as we think. That's not considering the tries they scored when the ball fell their way.

I'm not ignoring it was a sub-par performance which went downhill quickly. Running into a gale, Ken dropping it from their first attacking kick and conceding a try set the tone and we never recovered. We've never been overly resilient but we clearly lack a voice on-field. It's not like Ken was going to command inspiration when he's just dropped a lemon for them to score. What we need's a Jimmy Maloney style goldfish where he just puts mistakes behind him and get stuck back in.

As I've said before I think Peachy is a bad fit - I'm sure Bellamy wouldn't have stood for the silly team photo nonsense and wouldn't have been impressed with him laughing it up on camera when the opposition nearly scored). He definitely isn't the culture I think we need and I have genuine concern he could be a problematic influence on the playing group.

So Rothfield states now that LB asked for a release twice, and that was post factum the Tim Sheens declaration that he was going nowhere and that he’d been communicating with Luke.False narrative! And the fact that he’s a 900k player. Now people are running with that narrative which is only there to denigrate.Does anyone here definitively know what Brooks is on?

The performance was disappointing and I do empathise with those who drove up the M1,but I do believe that the wholesale negation of our NRL side by the podcast team was also disappointing, overtly doomsday and black, especially after just round 2.You guys tended to overlook the fact that we’ve been severely hampered by injury from the outset, and I think calling for the sacking of Madge after round 2 does no one any good considering we came pretty close to knocking over Melbourne and were refereed out of that contest in the final 20minutes.Im with Sheens, too early to press the panic button.

@geo-2 I think the point we were trying to make is that brooks and Hastings played first and second receiver respectively in attack which didn’t work at all. Although we were still terrible, Hastings moving to first receiver in the second half did help.

Right now it doesn't matter who is first or second receiver.

We're trying to cradle Simpkin through 80 minutes and this means he offers little threat in attack from dummy half. Add to this his slow and inaccurate  service and it means the defence can target both first and second receivers with little concern of a break down the middle. There were a number of times the ball went Simpkin->Brooks->Hastings and Hastings was being tackled as the ball arrived. We just weren't sharp enough.

I trust it's not lost on people the one clean break we made was Hasting right through the middle of their ruck out of dummy half.

I’m really not sure how anyone can objectively call out Brooks alone after that game. To me he was one of 17 players who played poorly. He was no better or no worse than anyone else. He needed to do his job and he didn’t- the same as every other player who took the field and those who sat in the coaches box.

Didn't you used to be able to plead quilty but challenge the grading without risking the extra time or did I just make that up? Lol
