Wests Tigers Podcast - Talking everything Wests Tigers!
It’s a little insane but you know what 10 years with no finals, coming dead last then we needed to change the game and Sheens and Benji might just be it. I’m all in because let’s be honest we have tried the normal approach and it has got this club nowhere so let’s change it up
Do you buy or sell the following positives?
- Sheen is a survivor and has had success over a long period at multiple clubs
- ‘Gets’ the Wests Tigers, the ownership model, Management and the Board and therefore understands how to get past the discord
- Has the respect of (and in turn would be a good mentor for) Benji and the other assistants
- Benji is a survivor, a fan and media favourite and will take the noise away and help improve player sourcing and retention
- 2 year time horizon coincides neatly with junior talent making first grade

Agree with the insane part. The rest seems a bit optimistic.
I just hope the GM has negotiated a good contract for the club with KPIs for the new coach.
I don't agree with the process of how Sheens got here - sacking madge then appointing himself.
But after looking at all the options, including Cilardo, I think this is the best option.
An external rookie coach - would get eaten alive with our club politics.
An external experience coach - would just provide the same old same old
I said when Sheens became an option - I was only supportive if he announced a successor now and mentored them through - almost as a co-coaching roles.
Sheens can protect the new coach from the politics and press. And set up the systems. And the new coach can drive things for the future.
I just didn't think the successor would be benji.
I go from loving him to thinking he's toxic. But I think if he's coach he has no one to undermine. He definitely will attract players. And I was impressed with 360 interview
Now for Robbie to football manager - to GM - CEO - board

I think benji will do what Ikin has done at Broncos, with media connections he will take some heat off the club from nrl360 and the like.
As an aside
Given Buzz obviously has the issue word from Sheens
If Buzz breaks any news about WT players, they will know exactly where it came from.
Much like with Kent and Stuart - which led to player divided players

Gutsy call by the club.
They should be commended for trying something different

Knowing what type of football team we want to be is essential.
the club recognising this and acting on it, is refreshing.
One thing about the Sheens, Benji and Robbie era was, we were never out of a game.
Here is to hoping that part of our DNA returns.
In regards to signing players, I can see it working and backfiring. We now have an old coach and 2 assistants who have no experience in coaching.
Signing Sheen's with 1 of them is a bit of a risk but both is too far in my opinion. What if Benji turns out to be a bust after 2 years as an assistant?
Agree with declan
If we are doing this - we need to stick solid for 5 years. But we should be Gardiner as an option fir year 6 if needed

The club doesn’t know what it means to ‘stick solid’. Never has and never will.
Anyone have a guess what Sheens/Benji thoughts will be on spine combo?

@frullens I think they will run with
7. Brooks
6. Douhie
13. Hastings
Question will be if Hastings wants to play 13 long term
Think Madden will get the chop and Da Silva will get a development contract for 9 so he can get experience.

Joffa at halfback and Noffa 5/8 would be typical Sheenious.
