My word for this evening is “gutted”. How many ways can this team find to lose?

Some great moments and efforts during the game but so many mistakes as well. Some of those mistakes were under 10s grade stuff-ups. Gutted…

It's tough to find just one word for the effort that was shown today, let alone this whole season. Somebody give me a word that means disappointed, disgusted, pathetic, heartless, dumb and upset.

Why? and How?

Congrats on the wooden spoon fellow Tigers. I never ever thought we'd go that bad  😥

My one word is:

TWENTYFOUR

for 2 reasons:

1. We aren't making the finals until at least 2024 - next year will need to be another building year. Which I can handle as long as we build to something, and not change direction, like we have over last 10 years. But will need to be patient for at least another year I think.

2. If we make the GF in the next 5 years, it's with 24 different players to the 30 we have this year.

The 6 that I think would make it are:

Hastings

AD

Ute

Twal

Joffa

Blore

Top 8 2023

My word:

Blunderstruck

Effort was there, but once again the side kept shooting themselves in the foot with a basic errors.

Steve has said it over and over and over again. Attention to detail.

Wasteful. Wasteful of opportunities, wasteful of the effort of teammates, wasteful of posession.

Structures and shapes looked better with Brown at lock, but the execution and timing was clunky (as it has been for weeks) contributing to errors.

We’re continuing to be out muscled in the forwards, and that’s leading to miss tackles, as the opposition rolls forward, offloads and creates second phase.

A conundrum moving forward is using ball-playing halves as locks (Hastings/Brown), it affects our strength and power in the middle. I noticed our second-rowers today getting dragged too far into the middle in defence.

I think play-playing locks are a massive assets in todays game (Radley, Murray, Trbojevic) but basing our coming pre-season attack and defence around using converted halves to play lock has plenty of question marks.

Here is a left field take. Let’s change our recruitment policy so that we only chase people that have a good academic record. Most NRL players have incredible physical gifts or dedication to the gym, which gets them to first grade, but you only have to watch a game like today to see it means diddly squat when they need to perform under fatigue.

Players like Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk weren’t the strongest or fastest, but how many games did they win or save based on their brain. That is why Hastings must be in our team next year. He is the only one we have who is articulate, reasoned and can think on his feet. Recruit a couple more like him and drop the guys who are dumb as dogs!t.

We need to do whatever it takes to get one of those x-factor type players you guys speak of. Until then we will be bottom four.

Agree that Nu Brown needs to be kept. Much better version of Peachey.

My word for today was immaturity. So many opportunities to close that game out and we were lining it up to screw it up.
