Simply disgraceful.
I was expecting 50...instead we got 72...and I'm not at all surprised.
The performance was as heartless as the club itself.

@frullens I agree that it’s probably just Sheensy preparing for next year. I’m ok with this. We are the worst performing club the past 22 years. Our problems are different to any other club given that history. Big changes had to be made if we are going to give ourselves the opportunity of enjoying sustained success. I’ve no idea if it will happen but I why not do it this way as nothing else has worked. Truth is nobody has the answers, we have to wait & see. But 3 finals appearances in 23 years, we need a different approach because it’s now become a huge task to turn it around.
As Sheens becomes coach - and will no doubt remain the big cheese on broader operations and decision making - what happens with the position of Director of Football. I presume Sheens won’t be able to perform all the duties of Head Coach and Director of Football. Do we end up with some hybrid model where Sheens controls everything and delegates. Does Sheens go back to Director of Football in 2 years when Benji takes over, or is he disembarking. I think I read somewhere a while back he might go back to England at some point. Most well operated organizations have clear delineation of roles and responsibilities, it’s how you sustain good management when people come and go, are we doing that or are we venturing into some complex hybrid ‘house of cards’ modeled around personalities.
Sheens will do both roles and will continue as director of football for at least 12 months after Benji takes over.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)

It’s a way off, and there’s obviously other priorities at the moment but the eventual succession planning post Sheens will be important. There’s an opportunity here to groom.

My understanding is sheens will stay longer if Benji and the club want him to

My bold prediction is that unless there is some major recruitment across the off season this year then I doubt Benji will coach a single game of first grade for the Tigers.
Currently next years roster is still a bottom four roster and I don't think another season like this one will be tolerated. There are still huge question marks over Sheens' decision making this year especially the decision to appoint Kimmorley to the interim head coaches role instead of Garidiner who already had some coaching experience. Also the decision to release Leluia to the Cowboys has really hurt us at the back end of the season for no tangible benefit. At the time it was assumed it would allow us to recruit another back rower for this year but nothing transpired so it's really not clear how we benefited from that at all apart from a small financial saving this year.
If we start next season like we've finished this one then the spotlight will be shone firmly on Sheens and I can see him being back in England enjoying his retirement by the end of 2023.
In that case it would in all likliehood lead to a change in CEO, now that the COE is open I believe the time might be right for Pascoe to enjoy his moment in the sun for opening such an impressive facility and then move on so some fresh ideas can come into the club. A new CEO would have his own ideas on the coaching structure and with Sheens gone the chances of him going ahead with a rookie coach who hasn't coached a single minute of first grade are remote to say the least.
The only thing which may change the above scenario is very smart recruitment for 2023 and as things stand at the moment we only have two quality players arriving, one of whom is only coming because we threatened him with legal action if he didn't and it's just not enough.
Even with the players not available, the effort is simply not there; whether it be lack of ability, poor coaching or lack of attitude; when teams get on an early roll against our team we do not recover. This score line shows that. They have definitely clocked off.
The Cowboys are a good example of what to do; but their playing cattle is much better and they were starting from a better base.
Tigers need to strip everything back to bare bones and start all over again, playing, training coaching and management.
Nice debut post, welcome.

It would be a very Wests Tigers thing to do - have a change of heart in 12-18 months.

Foxsports has footage of douhie leaving the field with twal and Brooks and a minor altercation with a fan.
It looks like the bloke was giving him a spray and he didn't like it. Nothing really in it but not the best look for a supposed "leader"

Not a great night for anyone associated with the club, probably in particular Doueihi. I have been VERY critical of AD regarding this game, but in that circumstance, that is the last thing he needs and I cant hold that against him.
Simple to some up
No Consequences
They way management has treated the end of the season has given the players a free card to play as they please.
They have shown with players transfers that this season doesn’t count for anything. The wooden spoon does not motivate the players or management. They have gone all in on next year so finishing last this year makes any progress up the ladder next year a success.
I feel sorry for Noddy be given an impossible task players attitude comes from above.
I fear for the club if there little improvements next year the knives will be out for all

You are right on the money there. The players have been free to play as they feel for years, comfortable that they won’t be dropped.

Yes nothing in it so why is it not the “best look for a supposed leader” You are contradicting yourself, your agenda is tiresome

Sorry Russ, I’m not okay with it!
It is not okay to treat the players (especially the young players) and fans in this manner. Sure, the year is a write-off but they MUST give the fans something to cheer about. They MUST try to avoid the spoon. And mostly, they MUST NOT subject the remaining players to certain floggings just so others can be loaned, moved on etc so we can save a relatively small amount of cap space!!
No doubt Sheens/club will have some excuses about short term pain for long term gain or similar, but it is simply not acceptable to put the team in this dire position. Sure we have major injury concerns, all the more reason to keep on deck what quality players we are able to.
You can’t simply flush this season down the toilet like they have, it shows zero care for the stake holders and personal at the club.
