We may not agree but to me you pick your best players week in week out baring injury in an attempt to build match combinations to win games.. changing for the sake of changing is not an optimal direction as far as I'm concerned..

Yep. Brooks was one of our best players and maybe our best. Sure he isn't great and if we had a ready replacement I'd replace him but we need a ready replacement. Gildart looked good. He deserves more chances than that. I also couldn't tell that Gildart was at fault for the tries scored on that edge. Was Tuilagi at fault ? Was big Ken ? Was it Brooks ?

I think the same team will get picked. I'd have that hooker to the bench simply because it's asking too much of Simpkin to play big minutes. I thought that was SImpkins best game in the top grade. His service was good and his defense wasn't bad. He had no running game but I also didn't see poor passes at critical times to our halves.

Seyfarth is so overrated by some sections of WT's fans .....

I rate him highly. To me he can be a point of difference. He was poor on the weekend but he got no game time. There is a lot of competition for middle forwards in our team.

Agreed, he’s had some ok moments but a lot of the time he looks pretty average.

I don't question his efforts ...but he isn't going to make it

As long as no one over reacts..

if you're referring to my comments about Brooks it's his 9th season. He's not getting any better.

As for Gildart, I haven't written him off at all, but I think he needs some time to work on his defence in reserve grade.  It wasn't necessarily his technique I just think he looked a bit clueless.

State Cup was woeful yesterday ..I'm all for giving a guys a chance but not for the sake of it just being someone different..these blokes need to be knocking down the door to be picked.. not one put their hand up.. T'oa was solid but that's it.

It's Brooks 8th season if you don't count that 1 game as a whole season.. he has his issues sure but is a far superior  NRL player than Jock Madden at this present time..if Gildardt needs time to work on defence in reserve grade then Madden certainly does ..a no name Mounties team ran through him for 2 TRIES yesterday..he also provided zero direction for the team bar 1 good kick..he may well develop into a good 1st grader but as we have seen it's difficult to do that in 1st grade..these guys have played very little footy in the past 2 years

We may not agree but to me you pick your best players week in week out baring injury in an attempt to build match combinations to win games.. changing for the sake of changing is not an optimal direction as far as I'm concerned..

IMO this is the systemic issue that the club has with its players .. on the weekend as reported players were not motivated or particular interested in reserve grade.

My question is why ! What’s the issue or problems the players  have in not turning up primed and ready , they are after all supposedly progressional players that in theory want to proceed to the next level …Is it the club that has this mediocre issue?

I'm hoping it's just the lack of football.. ..they had a dig so they are interested.. motivated..they where just woeful.. like at playing Rugby League..

So organize a few extra trials .....all clubs would be in the same boat

He doesn't have a running game ...he isn't quick enough ...like Steve Walters

Have to disagree guys.. I think he’s exactly what we need in the team. Just had to be used correctly. Whether it be starting at lock or bench rotation. His season could be on the coaches back imo. After rd one I hope Maguire can read the game better.

But on the team, would probably go with Tamou replacing Garner. Although I think Garner is an 80 min back rower or at a pinch a centre. But we can’t carry he and Peachey on the bench together. Need some more impact!

Those who watched our KOE state cup game on the weekend said we looked awful. No good comments for most players from that game to replace anyone in first grade.

I wonder how much of that is taking Ben Gardiner out as KOE coach and making him assistant to Madge?

I really think it’s a little premature to be running the line through players after one solitary game.Sure, we could’ve been better but in context, we really weren’t that bad.

Our roster has been compromised through injury so we are facing limitations. For the psychological benefit of this team we can’t afford to press the panic button by sacking players on debut. We need cool heads in adversity.Agree Logan,we have to use Seyfarth in the right manner, and Madge’s bench refinement is critical to our progress. We had a bench advantage against Melbourne and failed to utilise it.

'Lambkin is a quality coach.. had the Flegg side undefeated in 21.. good crop of those players now playing Cup.  look the end result was a 16-20 loss not earth shattering but disappointing for one of the favoured sides in that competition..

If you could compare to NRL it was like the Rorters v Newcastle game..no one gave Newy a chance against a much more fancied opponent..plus it's Round 1

Good point CQ and I wonder how many players from the 2021 KOE side are in the 2022 KOE side as well
