@unhappy-tiger With the exception of maybe Luciano can you think of any players who have improved since joining? Mbye was very good under Cleary, hopeless under Maguire. Brooks has gone from being a decent halfback to barely NRL level. Twal has regressed too.

And re: our defence, we got smashed by the Knights and then played two teams unlikely to make finals. Let’s see how we go against someone decent.

Laurie initially improved ....Douehi definitely improved .....Utoikamani definitely yes ...Garner has improved this season .....Simpkins has improved Seyfarth started at a low level ...has improved .....Tuilagi has improved ...Blore was improving .....Talau is improving ....Kepaua played his best game the day he injured himself ...stop me whenever you like ...thats 1/3 of our squad

I wouldn’t be declaring our defence “fixed” just yet. The Warriors and Titans were hardly stretching us and we conceded 26 against the Storm and Knights. The next two games are massive for Maguire and the club.

In regards to coaching options. I reckon Flanagan and Ciraldo would attract players (that we might not have got with Maguire) so that’s a plus straight off.

Wolfe is a fairly unknown quantity so it’s hard to advocate too strongly for him at this stage.

I did say the defence seems fixed to a point ....true test is coming ...but a lot will come down to our completion rates as it does in every game ...

But if the majority of players weren't behind Madge ...the 1st thing that would be giving way is the defence ..always is

AD was excellent at South’s before he joined us. Stef maybe but I think that’s just because he’s older, the rest don’t agree at all….

Maybe we take a different approach and give someone like Gardiner a go. The reserves were doing well under him.

1. Ciraldo - Rookie coaches start somewhere. The Storm weren't who they are now before Bellamy.

2. Woolf - perhaps a similar story to Robbo.

I do not want Flanagan or his son. I am tired of the Tigers being in the media constantly and with his past etc it would just keep the circus going.

You could blast Toovey with a high-pressure hose and you would see Manly colours underneath.

He's also our attack coach. Not really  something to shout from the rooftops about

@unhappy-tiger We’re on a Seven game losing streak and we just played two really average teams that aren’t going to make the 8 and we still couldn’t win. Surely Madge is somewhat responsible for that.

you day the defense is fixed but I have a funny feeling this comment isn’t going to age well after the sharks and eels games.

But then again if Madge had a crystal ball and knew that we would have so many injuries to the potential guys he signed that could possibly get us over the line v Warriors and Titans  ......The Cronulla game worries me ... I think what happened mentally v the Titans and to a lesser extent the Warriors will have a lot to do with that ....

Come up with some better names on the coaching list and you might get my attention ....but those names aren't attractive ...everyone naming Ciraldo is assuming he will bring 5 players with him ...maybe if it was a better club yes .....but we are the WT's ....the laughing stock of the NRL ...the club players use as a stepping stone ....or even an excuse to join and just as quickly leave ......

Agree 1000% with you @unhappy-tiger

Madge has improved our defence a lot.

Also they have stated they have agreed to pay a more free flowing have in attack. Hastings being out these last 2 games has been difficult,  as he is key to our attack. What a different season it with be if AD and Hastings had played every game. Potentially 3 of 4.

Madge isn't the main issue.  It's historically bad management and perception that's the biggest issue. Madge has Sorrento the last 3 years righting the wrongs of previous administrations. The benefits will only start to be seen next year and the following.

Of the potential coaches, I don't think any are better than madge and not many have the tough character to deal with our situation.

If we did sack madge,  woolf would be the only one I'd go with.  But he is madge mkII

Cilardo isn't the answer. Look at Barrett, he was a panthers assistant, was given an open chequebook signed the fox, TPJ and the rest, and they are playing worse than us.

Madge will be here for the the remainder of the year.  And if they keep playing for him,  I think he might even be here next year too.

We need some patience, the darkest hour is just before the dawn.

Top 8 2023

I’d pick Madge. He’s the one who will break through the barrier of mediocrity that the club is plagued with. It was never going to be easy but progress is being made.

We’ve gone from 9th to last and gone backwards in defence and attack. Apart from that he’s doing great lol.

We’ve made strides with attitude and in defence. There is a lot of effort by the playing group. The tide will turn. Don’t forget our best attacking players are currently sitting on the sidelines injured or suspended. We’ve also made a couple of great signings for next year with no doubt more to come.

What nonsense, defence this year has been outstanding. Stop worrying about the ladder, the team is becoming a team. It will serve us well down the track. It’s the attitude that is the most important, get that right and success will come. As I posted above we also have our best attacking players injured or suspended, that’s not going to last forever. There is no quick fix for what ails the Tigers, it’s hard work and dedication is what is needed and Maguire is the right man to coach this team.

The next month of footy will decide for me. But I’ve been pro and anti Madge for quite a while now… but I do see some resilience for his motives. The parramatta coach speaks volumes here as he was almost on the outer and he saved his bacon. As I say let’s see April’s footy and see where we head.

You said the same thing around this time last year. Now you’re sticking with the narrative yet again even though we’ve gone backwards further still.

We’re coming last and have lost our last 7 in a row. We have just played the Warriors and the Titans who played absolutely dreadful and we still couldn’t beat them. Before that we capitulated against the Knights and we got easily beaten by Melbourne. We’ve gone from a team that we’re laughed at for coming 9th all the time to paying $1.72 to get the spoon.

If that’s your idea of heading in the right direction I think you need a new compass.

Can’t believe I’m stating this but… his last couple of press conferences I’ve really liked. Maybe it’s because we’ve hit rock bottom… but I see in his eyes that he wants to get us out of this mire.
