Now that Braith’s boy Munster has stuck with the Storm & knowing that Benji has spoken to Teddy & Moses about the possibility of returning was wondering which of the 3 (including Dylan Brown) would most Wests Tigers people like to see the club have a lash at. I’m assuming they’re cashed up given the talk of the kind of money they were willing to throw at Braith’s boy. Personally, I’d like to see Teddy come to the club. The Roosters don’t mind letting very good players go if they believe they have a better option for the future & given Teddy would be 31 after next season they might not throw huge money at Teddy (or they might). If the Tigers could offer say 2.5 million for 2 years or about 3.6 million for 3 years it could tempt him. I also think he’d be great for young fans of the MacArthur region given he comes from there. Plus he might just like the idea of playing under Benji at the club he started with. He’s also played great footy at the highest level & would be a tremendous leader of the young blokes coming through, would help Benji a lot I should imagine.
Okay, seems Teddy contracted for another 2 years so maybe scrap that unless something crazy happens. Rorters know how to do business locking him up until 32 years of age. Well probably have a lash at Moses but a little less enthusiastic about that.
Tedesco and Moses, as far as I’m aware, would be 1000/1 to return.
Brown is an option, but given his performances in the big games I don’t know if I’d be breaking the bank.

@helmesy Maybe but it wouldn’t shock me if Teddy did return after the 2024 season. To play under Benji, lead the team & give back to the MacArthur region. After achieving so much he might believe it would be a good way to end his career. To achieve a finals birth with the Tigers would be another big achievement & some sort of legacy I guess. Depends how Benji could sell it to him. Would have so much up side for the club. Unlikely but wouldn’t be a total shock.

I think the Rorters are unlikely to let him go but in 2 more years he’ll have played well over 250 games & will be 32 so if they believe they can groom Sua’ili’i over the next 2 seasons to be their fullback or even play Manu there & move Sua’ili’i to centre they might believe Teddy at 32 is more of a risk than at 30. Would still be very good but for how much longer? For our club it would be a better risk as we would benefit more you would think.

Teddy for me. Moses and Brown are terrific players but go MIA too often imo
@mac_tiger True but Brown is improving & will continue to do so you’d think. Moses played well in the GF but suffers in comparison with Cleary. I just think Benji would love Teddy for his leadership & professionalism & Benji would benefit from that as well. If he’s free to negotiate come Nov’ next year maybe we could offer 2 or 3 years on more money than them. Again, unlikely but wouldn’t shock me if that’s what happened. Would be a nice kind of synergy too, two legends leading the team at the beginning of Benji’s tenure.
I thought Dylan Brown would be good but he goes missing a fair bit, as a 6 you want a dynamic player. Would be happy with him bit don't break the bank
If Teddy was free to negotiate Nov’ 2023 & the club was still cashed up would offering him a 3 year deal on say $4 million be something you’d do?

Based on current fitness/form you would do it, let’s see how he is in another 12 months.

Tedesco will be so wrapped up in the rorters system with a job for life plus benefits he won’t even consider the ‘fairytale’ end to his career.
plus the fact we are excited about offering a 32 year old aging fullback a big money, multi year deal shows the depths of despair we are in when it comes to recruitment
@tigersteve Definitely would be a risk at his age, 32 in 2025, but Slater was still playing great footy at that age. I think I would’ve been throwing big dollars at a 32 year old Slater to play under Benji as well, and I’d be bloody thrilled if he accepted. Every top line player we might throw big money at would be a risk. It’s not a system they’d immediately thrive in is it. But if we were I’d choose Teddy because out of the 3 I’ve mentioned here I’d feel most confident he could help the team & Benji. But you’re correct it’s extremely unlikely to happen, I certainly wouldn’t back any of them to come.
@helmesy Agree with that. Interesting that Slater played 300+ games & finished after turning 35. He also won the Dally M fullback of the year at 34 & won the Clive Churchill medal that same year. I’d personally rank Slater & Tedesco on a par although Slater might edge Teddy due to all those years in great QLD Origin side.

Well said !! We need to move away from signing players to big contracts at the end of their careers. I’d rather splash some cash on a few juniors.
