Why do you think they would like being coached by a rookie?
Yeah ...but he is probably a player whisperer .......why not Slater then ...the raps around him are big and probably half the price
I would probably take Slater if we could get him, he has impressed me the last week or so.
Slater is the opposite of a development coach" surely?
The idea of a development coach is pure spin. You don’t develop them in NRL, they are developed before that so they can play at the NRL. NRL coaching is all about people management with some skill fine tuning. Sheens is talking bollocks.
I totally disagree (although I agree that "development coach" is the latest "catch phrase that everyone is spouting like they have always known what it is).
I think its a real thing but I think it has two parts. First is the development from junior reps to breaking into NRL. This is a very tricky development pathway and very few make it. We have a current crop of very good young juniors and we need someone (doesnt necessarily need to be the head coach, Sheens would be good IMO) to best carry them through this path whilst still improving them to be NRL quality.
The second part is the development of a player from worthy of an NRL debut, into a good first grader, the Sheens 50 game mantra. There have been quite a few debut under Madge but none have kicked on, or even really even improved for that matter (Stef a possible exception but debuted at Parra). A good "Development coach" takes these kids like Hoffman, Cini, Blore, Seyfarth, McIntyre, and develop them into good first graders. Ciraldo has experience of both IMO as well as first hand experience of the Pamfers systems.
Sheens was a "development coach", I see it in Ciraldo. ,Madge not so much.
Well said mate.

Yeah, once you reach NRL you are complete player
Personally don't think you can compare coaching and playing ...Fitzgibbon would have had 100 games as a coach if he had taken the 1st gig offered

Doubt he’d be interested in coaching a Sydney (NSW) team.
Right gig ...who knows

Sheens didn't get much from the talent at the Cowboys .....and Belcher ....Ferguson ...Meninga ......Peter Jackson ......Brent Todd ....Steve Walters ...Clyde ...Daley ...Stuart ...many of which were Bennett signings .....Sheens was amazing with us in 2005
Former Knight Alex McKinnon believes the Wests Tigers have “wasted six months” by not sacking Michael Maguire last year.
Speaking on the Fox League podcast, McKinnon also revealed the reason why Adam Hartigan was axed as general manager of football was because he advised the Tigers to move in a different direction to Maguire six months ago.
“I think they’ve definitely wasted six months,” McKinnon said.
“But what they’ve also lost is a very important part of their club in a general manager of football in Adam Hartigan six months ago.
“He set up their junior pathways, all the young kids that you’re going to see come through in the next two-to-three years were all recruited by him and all put in place by him.
“He was sacked last year purely because he recommended that the club went in a different direction. He was not able to be kept at the club because they wanted his honest opinion, he gave his honest opinion, they went in a different direction and six months later they’ve now gone in the direction which he agreed to.
“I think that highlights a real issue at the club.”
The Tigers launched an internal review at the end of last season after finishing 13th and rounding out the season with a humiliating 38-nil loss to wooden spooners, the Bulldogs.
Maguire survived that review but just over a week ago the club underwent another internal review — this time he did not make it through.
The Tigers released a statement on Tuesday afternoon saying Maguire had been “terminated from his role, effective immediately.”
Wests Tigers Podcast - Talking everything Wests Tigers!
@helmesy Scott Woodward said the same thing today when on SEN radio, he said Sheens is taking credit for pathways Hartigan set up
@jedi-tiger is sheens taking credit or just reiterating the strategy? It sounds like a great strategy to me
@mike we don't punt Maguire with nobody lined up. We are stupid but not that stupid
Penrith will be saying to ciraldo you are contracted to us we will tell you when it is ok to announce you are leaving
I think someone will let the cat out of the bag in the media by next weekend
@garry slater would be ok I think.
just hoping ciraldo as we might be able to jag Liam Martin Burton and Stephen Crichton maybe

Brad Walters ripping Wests apart for the circus. Never mind that warriors also sacked their coach and have been massive under performers over many years given their potential.
the more we look like a basket case the less likely we get the candidate we want
People say WT players should stay for the love of the club and not leave because of the coach.
Yet get excited about Cilardo, because he might entice some panthers players over to WT.......
Top 8 2023
Ciraldo is an unknown but so were all the good coaches at one point. He helped massively with the Panthers, is very well regarded by everyone and if a team as talented as the Panthers are that desperate to keep him then he must have something going for him.
I don't know who the coach will be, if Hastings etc will stay or if this has been in the works since last year...one thing I do know is that it is going to be a very anxious wait to find out who will take over from Noddy!
@jedi-tiger Just false mate
There’s no doubt that the journey was started under Hartigan but the amount of attention and detail that has went into the pathways this year is more than it was when Woodward and Hartigan were there.
