@helmesy he is, you would think an offer from Belmore might be coming Hastings way. Kind of makes sense if Sheens is adamant he is a 13 and he want to play 7

Hastings would also fit at the Bulldogs because they need a cheap 7 with their out of balance cap. Despite the hype around Hastings here, he would still be one of the cheaper 7s in the NRL.

Very possible...and replace them with?

We need to be careful what we wish for.

Also interesting to hear Lee say that the spiral down to 16th was inevitable and that there were problems within the Club. He didnt say it, but Igot the vibe he meant Madge (at least in part).

Too bad neither of them can see their own failings and the significant part they played in Wests Tigers coming 16th. These two clowns never take responsibility for the clubs failings, the problem always lies elsewhere and never with them. The only people that had to take responsibility was Madge & Hartigan et al.

Not having a go Mike, but did you listen to the pod? They both said more than once that they bear responsibility and that it has been unacceptable. They also pretty pointedly said that at the time that Madge was sacked, this was management taking control and attempting to rectify the problems causing the slide. Im not sure you could ask for more.

They can say it all they like and they have on several occasions. Words mean nothing. The only people that took responsibility were the football dept. These two clowns have overseen the worst period in Wests Tigers history and both are still there.

Serious question. Can I take from your response that the only acceptable action on their part, to take responsibility is to resign/leave?

I mean that in the pod they detail their perception of the problem and how they have taken action to rectify the problem (which is their job), but the only satisfactory response is to quit?

Any strategy that involve Kyle Flanagan is a poor strategy IMO

Absolutely yes. We need people running the club that actually know Rugby League and what is needed to run a successful club and neither of them fit the bill. They haven’t got a clue.

@helmesy Yes, I can understand that. I’d say all aspects should be looked at but particularly in respect to experienced NRL players. Would be less data available for inexperienced players so would think the nuances you mentioned might have more of a bearing at that stage.

There is a lot of data on juniors through out the country. You would be surprised by how much.

  1. @garry As much as experienced NRL players? I doubt it but, yes, there probably is a lot these days. And it will only grow as clubs compete for the best young talent. It may well get to the point one day where the data on juniors becomes more important than experienced NRL players because there might be a trend that way now. The Panthers’ success would be having a greater influence you’d think.

Yes as much as NRL players, I have seen the Woodward system that we used to use and it had in depth data on players from all the junior competitions around the country. While I am a big supporter of what Hartigan was trying to do, he may have been a little too reliant on this data.

@garry I could well be wrong if that’s the case. It would be a real eye opener to be present at list management meetings & see how the data is put together because they’d need many eyes on many players doing many things. Easier if televised, not so if otherwise. But I’d love to know more about the whole process of identifying a potential recruit & the negotiations that take place. Working within a salary cap to fit in 30 players on varying payments must be difficult especially if overhauling a squad.
