Also interesting to hear Lee say that the spiral down to 16th was inevitable and that there were problems within the Club. He didnt say it, but Igot the vibe he meant Madge (at least in part).
Apologies for the chain of posts but commenting as I listen.
Lee doubles down (IMO) on the condemnation of Madge when he says that the Club has "taken back" our culture and that the club had made the mistake of placing the responsibility for club culture in the hands of one individual.
Best interview I've heard with Justin P and Lee H so far.
Definitely worth a listen if you haven't already
They cover:
- conflict of interest
- football depth v admin
- appointment of sheens/benji
- tigertown
- Lee's fedora
These 2 could definitely sell ice to the eskimos though 🤷♂️
I'll have a listen tomorrow.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
@tiger5150 it felt pretty pointed at madge didn't it.
Also the bio-pic comment about Tiger town
Top 8 2023
I think there were some thinly veiled digs at Hartigan as well.

Too bad neither of them can see their own failings and the significant part they played in Wests Tigers coming 16th. These two clowns never take responsibility for the clubs failings, the problem always lies elsewhere and never with them. The only people that had to take responsibility was Madge & Hartigan et al.

You don’t need to have introspection if you have scapegoats.

Exactly.

Not having a go Mike, but did you listen to the pod? They both said more than once that they bear responsibility and that it has been unacceptable. They also pretty pointedly said that at the time that Madge was sacked, this was management taking control and attempting to rectify the problems causing the slide. Im not sure you could ask for more.
@frullens Yes, just listened, Kris Gale did a terrific job making them feel comfortable with some humorous takes on things.
I’m very happy to have it confirmed that the pathways teams will be utilising the previous temporary facilities at Concord. I should imagine that would allow some mixing with the NRL squad & staff which is a big plus imo. Might help with understanding all the systems & speed their progress ala Panthers programs.
Just listening to the Moneyball conversation you get the impression that list management is pretty complex. I think sometimes, as supporters, we take it for granted that it shouldn’t be all that difficult, and maybe it isn’t if you are already have a successful NRL team (same would go for AFL too) but if you are trying to usurp those more successful clubs it’s a huge task. I think a few years ago the club brought over an analyst from the Storm (I could be wrong about that) but there’s obviously been a move the past couple of years towards a more scientific approach to list management. But all that has to tie into the coaching philosophy too. Would be interesting to learn more about how the club goes about all this.

It is where Sheens and Hartigan differed. Hartigan was big on the stats and data, Sheens believes this is important, but you also need to watch the nuances of their game and take into account things like character and commitment to the cause.
This is further reflected in Sheens telling the club the fitness benchmarks on the spreadsheet are one thing, but what he witnessed was a team that needs to be fitter.

Scott Woodward was the analyst we had for awhile with Hartigan. He was the one who identified Hastings in ESL and kept hounding him to come over to wests tigers with weekly calls etc.
Woodward is working with Bulldogs now so it does make you wonder if they may make a play November 1 for 2024 Hastings in the number u at Belmore

I believe Hartigan is over at the Bulldogs too.

@helmesy he is, you would think an offer from Belmore might be coming Hastings way. Kind of makes sense if Sheens is adamant he is a 13 and he want to play 7
