I see the junior rep Summer squads are out, no Heamasi Makasini named but still hopeful he'll stick with league and us, we'll see. There are plenty of young players worth keeping an eye on and no doubt others will put their names forward as strong prospects for the future. Thought I'd just mention a few of those I'm keen to see again next year, besides the obvious ones who have had some media already.

Callum McMenemy (Flegg). A solidly built centre who I think could convert to the back row in time. Had some nice touches this year in the Laurie Daley and SG Ball teams.

Kian Edmed :  (Flegg) A prop I saw him get 20 minutes in a Flegg game this year, just a taste at this stage, but is a big young fella who rips in. Needs a bit of weight on him but he's worth watching to see if he can continue to develop.

There are others like Godinet and Tapau-Moors who most of us are already aware of from the Wests Matts team this year who will obviously be worth watching in that Flegg squad.

A couple in the Wests SG ball squad who I'm keen to see again are Riley Oitmann and PJ French. I only saw one game of Oitmann but you could see he is a good little mover. He played fullback in the Laurie Daley team this year but was injured in about rd 3 I think and didn't play again. I see he's been spending some time at the Zurich Centre so that's a promising sign. And I saw PJ play about 7 games in the Matts side, a big young prop who did a fine job coming off the bench mainly.

In the Wests Matts squad I'm keen to see how Tom Goodfield and Jhevon Lele progress. Tom is a good winger and Jhevon a five eighth. Both played in the recent Cubs game at the Gold Coast.

There are others, obviously Ashton Large (Wests Matts) And Lucyannah Luamanu, Paige Attard, Ellie Barnett, and Angel Schaafhausen-Mino (Tarsha Gale) who are also ones to watch.

Just listened to WTF pod & happy to hear Callum McMenemy get a mention as a kid with potential. One of the guys suggests Skelton might transition to back row at some point but I still believe Callum could in the next year or two. Whatever the case may be it’ll be interesting to watch progress this year.

Listened to the WTF podcast today & the guys picking 5 each young pathways players to watch the next few years. I thought I’ll have a crack too. Even though they’ve picked a few I would've chosen e.g. Godinet, Tapau-Moors & Haywood I’ll go for 5 different.

PJ French, a big l, young prop who impressed me off the bench for Wests Matts this year.

Tom Goodfield, a young winger who showed some good touches during the Wests Matts run this year.

Cale Edmed, this one’s a bit left field as I only saw about 20 mins of him in a Flegg game but I thought he looked a likely customer, rangy prop. Alex Seyfarth’s kid brother is a description that comes to mind.

Kian Edmed, another Edmed, not sure if related but don’t think so. Did a good job in the Tigers Ball team despite their poor showing.

I was going to pick Jhevon Lele but just remembered another who I think has, at present moment anyway, a better chance of progressing quickly. Riley Oitmann, impressed in Wests MacArthur Laurie Daley team this year at fullback. A really nice mover who can also play wing.

I’ll look back at these 5 guys end of season 2025 and see how they progress.

Interesting the WTF boys giving this young Logan Brooks a pretty big rap. A Kirwan State High kid from the Cows system with a lot of ability apparently. Will be keen to see how he goes in the Flegg side. So we might lose a few from our own pathways but looks as if we’re picking up a few elsewhere, Tapau-Moors & Haywood from Penrith & now Brooks from Cows system.
