fantastic if we get 3 clubs Ashfield Balmain and campbletown
It’s a great shame they aren’t a real piece of the club any longer.

This is only from personal experience, but they don't really seem to want to have much to do with the club. We tried to arrange to hold some ambush events there and there was just very little interest in having us. We ended up having to source other venues.

Campbelltown won't be more than a sponsor to the Wests Tigers.
That's a real pity. Wests Campbelltown is a large and well run club closely affiliated with local rugby league but as I understand it isn't involved with WT. Does anyone know the reason behind it?

Long-running politics/grudges between them and Ashfield.

@garry that is terrible
I don't go in there before games as I had heard they don't have much to do with the wests tigers apart from sponsorship.
You would think they would be falling over themselves to hold an Ambush event before a game out there people buy food and drink seems a dumb decision

We have an event coming up out there for Round 14 but that will be held at the Beer Shed.

Serious question. Is the developer under any obligation to put a leagues club in there? Balmain folded and there agreement was with a previous developer anyway. Is there any requirement for the leagues club legally?

Solution (DA lodged April 2018)
Scott Carver worked closely with Laurus Projects, the community and Inner West Council to submit a Development Application that provides a solution to issues of the past, and one that will breathe new life into the site. Emphasis has been placed on the return of the Balmain Leagues Club, high-quality urban design, with a particular focus on the creation of new public spaces, landscaping to enrich a sterile area, and activation of new laneways and spaces, to create a strong connection with retailers, and the community.

Also look here… Seems a leagues club is part of any proposal.

I think it is part of the condition of sale

Imagine if the club had kept ownership of the site or sold it to Wests rather than Benny.

They couldn't they were in a world of trouble by that point.
