The Inner West has just has voted unanimously to proceed with a demolition order for the Balmain Leagues Club site. The NSW Government holds a lease and has control over the site and must act now to demolish it or we we’ll take legal action to force them.

BREAKING: Council has now issued emergency orders for the Balmain Leagues Club site to be cleaned up & made safe. It's a disgrace that the NSW Government has to be forced to clean up this dangerous fire safety & asbestos hazard.
The orders have been sent to owner of the property as well as Transport for NSW which holds a lease over and liability for the site.
The Government is insisting that demolition is not necessary, using the excuse that they have assessed the building to be "structurally sound".
They are missing the point - this dangerous eyesore is unsafe.
We insist that this derelict building is a major fire & safety hazard and must be knocked down.
The Premier Dom Perrottet and the Transport Minister David Elliott have not done a thing since the fire last Saturday to get this resolved.
For almost two years we have been warning the Government about the fire safety risk there and they have sat on their hands.
This wilful neglect is putting the Rozelle community at risk.

really continues the swing in the centre of gravity of the club towards the inner west. COE @Concord, Ownership (Ashfield), LO redevelopment and now new clubhouse. The club really needs to start to announce the concrete plans to invest in the South West also.
