The MacArthur region has a population of well over 300,000. If the 9000 members are made up of 5000 from the region that would mean less than 2% of people from the region are members. If this could grow to just 5%, 1 in 20, the club would have close to 20,000 members. The potential for a great membership base is there. If the club was a successful club especially on field the membership growth would be substantial.
@russtutty63 The rub is no use having a a huge membership base in an area like Campbelltown , the stadium holds only 15k take out the reserved area for visiting club fans why would you invest as a member when you will be locked out . At some stage reality will hit home the club will never expand under those circumstances, if a 30k stadium is not built in the near future the club will just stagnate !
There’s little doubt the area needs a facility that can accommodate sport & large concerts but will only succeed in that endeavour if financed by government & that’s unlikely to happen in the near future. Apparently upgrades are planned as well as the Centre of Excellence which is in partnership with Western Sydney Uni I think. The sooner that happens the better. But the goal across the NRL should be to have stadiums similar to CommBank. That won’t happen in my lifetime.@russtutty63 The rub is no use having a a huge membership base in an area like Campbelltown , the stadium holds only 15k take out the reserved area for visiting club fans why would you invest as a member when you will be locked out . If it were my choice I’d spend the money allocated for Leichhardt to Campbelltown. Just make some minor improvements at Leichhardt and play two or three heritage games there. Play the rest at a 30,000 seat Campbelltown.
