Long term & jagging a finals spot

As Noddy says “it’s a difficult time” right now. We all understand that, we understand it’s been difficult for 10 or 11 years. We aren’t going to be a force any time soon obviously but we could jag a finals spot soon. See, that’s how clubs who aren’t a force do it. They win maybe half their games, sometimes less, and jag a spot. They might then win a game in the finals but, more than likely, bow out first week. But, hey, right now each & every Tigers supporter would take that. We, well I, actually pray for that. Okay praying is going to far but you get the idea. But that’s what lies ahead the next year or three until we see if any of the junior talent develops to where we hope they do, fingers crossed there eh. We all know in any year there are probably going to be only 2 or 3 spots in the eight available for less successful clubs to fight for. The current powerhouses will be up there again although one might struggle as the Roosters are now but it’s unlikely they’ll struggle for long. So given the Roosters, Storm, Penrith aren’t going anywhere soon and the Cowboys & Broncos look like they could keep improving given their young talent it means next year and maybe a few more 14 teams will fight for three spots in the eight. I haven’t mentioned the Eels or Souths because I feel they could drop out but who knows for sure, I’ve only looked at what is perhaps the likeliest scenario. But given recent history there will be only 3 spots available for clubs outside those taken by the usual suspects. And that’s where it comes back to jagging a spot. I refer to jagging because those clubs will need some good fortune if they are to make it. Yes, they will need to play reasonably well but they also need luck. That luck will mainly be with injuries but there is the draw & a fair share, at least, of good calls from officials. I don’t think the Tigers have had much good fortune at all this season but I could be biased in that opinion. Here’s hoping next season we can play well & have some good fortune so we can jag a spot because I don’t know about you but I’ll be celebrating like we’ve won a premiership if we do.

Ok, got the numbers wrong, I’m trying to work whilst posting, striking while the iron is hot (lukewarm in my case). 12 teams next year fighting for 3 spots probably, not 14 teams.

The other thing to factor in is that there's an extra team next year trying to get into that top 8.

Sadly I don't think we've hit rock bottom yet. We have some of the top teams coming and the Warriors' return game at home shouts 'nightmare'.

Yeah who knows how we go in the ‘warriors homecoming game’. I’m sure a lot of our team will be catching up with famm and cuzzi bros also. Might be good for us to get out of Sydney 🤷‍♂️

@helmesy Yes, so it becomes just a bit more difficult. Of course it’s also not a given that Souths & the Eels drop out, they’ve both been pretty successful for a while now. It is obvious, however, that we go down the development path because that is our best chance of becoming a consistently successful club. Still hopeful of jagging a spot next year of course.

@loganr21 Yes might be a good thing but a part of me thinks many of the Warriors boys have been distracted by the thought of this game & the return home. I think in the context of their season it’s their biggest game & one they’ll be very, very motivated to win. I think quite a lot of our guys have other distractions now to deal with. Some will deal with them better than others I’d think.

Well they get 11-14 days to get their shit together I suppose. Three of them or maybe 2 now play next weekend. Just wish some long suffering fans could get into their heads and bring them up to perform like we want them to. To be honest I just want to be proud of them for starters. Only a handful of games in the last 2 years can I say that I have been.
