This story has now been updated.

“This review is critical,” Andreacchio said. “I don’t want anything to hijack it by public commentary out there. What we are trying to achieve is a truly independent review that we can consider to make sure moving forward the Wests Tigers become successful.

“It’s the first truly independent review that we haven’t had our fingers all over. It might take a few weeks or months but it won’t be clouded by innuendo or commentary.”

Bit late for that now mate.

Pretty clear from these stories that none of the board are fit for purpose. Getting rid of LH will be a positive move, but rather futile if we've still got the same WA bloc (Andreacchio and co) on the board.

The priority must be to get a high calibre/skilled board.

A high calibre board would recognise themselves if they had a below calibre CEO and make the change.

Gary Barnier has a few gremlins in his closet by the looks of it.

https://www.thesenior.com.au/story/7002501/from-maggots-in-the-mouth-to-900000-in-grants-from-the-department-of-health/

This is honestly like a comedy show

I could be mistaken but reading between the tea leaves on the last 24 hours:

- HBG are going to spear Lee H and Pascoe and use a review conducted by a questionable character in Barnier to deliver the message.

- If this transpires we'd be left with 6 directors on the board and of those remaining only Danny Stapleton and John Dorahy are not aligned with the majority shareholder, Holman Barnes

- Holman Barnes will need to top up the board because James Myatt and Lee H will have departed. They are pushing for Barry O

Farrell and John Coates to fill the remaining board seats

- In the background to all of this, Holman Barnes Group Directors are themselves up for election next March when Wests Ashfield votes on its directors. This means that Tony A, Rick Wayde, Julie Romero (who are pushing these changes through right now) could themselves be out of the picture by Rd 1 2024?

it would be great to hear from James Myatt or a Mick Liubinskas (resigned from the board this year also) to confirm who is running the show? Otherwise it would also be great to learn more about the Wests Ashfield board vote to know if Tony A and Rick Wayde are a chance of being removed? Maybe someone like Shannon Cavanagh would know more about this?

e.g. do you need to be a debenture holder in Wests Ashfield to stand for a board spot or is the only requirement that you have been a club member for 3 years?

This is just Lee’s PR team trying to whitewash the review by attempting to discredit Barnier. Lee is feeling the heat as he should. Watch him take his bat and ball and go home like a petulant child.

100% agree with you. How embarrassing that Tony even admits that he and others have interfered with prior reviews.

The SMH article in fact suggests that Lee may have been extended to keep the minimum number of independent board members required as per charter. And specifically this article suggests that Lee may not in fact even be the ongoing Chair, in which case he was retained as an director.

This is a good point. They cant spear Lee H now because they need to have an independent director for the board to be considered valid under NRL rules.

This means that O Farrell or Coates would have to be appointed before Lee is turfed out.

Lee might also elect to dig in for the fight if at least two of the Holman Barnes crew will potentially be voted out next year? he might find some allies among the new board appointees.

Coates would eat Lee for breakfast, that guy is the Terminator. It actually scares me a bit that he might be a board member

The whole $1m sponsorship thing is a total red herring as well. We would just simply re sell the sponsorship to the highest bidder and who says we wouldn’t get more considering we wouldn’t have a conflicted chairman

at the moment we are held hostage to Lees supposed $1M because the Club stinks so bad, no corporation will want to be associated with us. However if the Club makes big bold sweeping changes and appoints some competent high profile people like Coates or even better a Shane Richradson or equivalent, then we have a redemption story to tell and an opportunity to ride the feel good story from the bottom.

If Lee wants to use the sponsorship as leverage to be on the board he shouldn’t be anywhere near the club. We’d get a new sponsor easily
