Shane Richardson talks about club governance- some directly about WT others implied.

Listen from the 45min mark for about 15mins - theres an ad break in between.

Key points:

- Set a plan and never ever deviate

- Boards at the bottom think they can run a footy club and don't give the football GM the power

- coach needs to get what they want

- build from club juniors as a priority- don't go for hail mart big $$ signing

The whole interview is interesting if you have time

https://www.smh.com.au/national/when-gillon-called-jeff-the-icy-phone-call-that-lays-bare-tensions-in-tasmania-20230803-p5dtpa.html

Couldnt stand Richardson at souffs but he does know his stuff. WT had no problems throwing $1M at Latrell or Munster, I actually feel like we are better paying WAY overs for a Richardson, Bennett, in that role.

How can we have any belief in the future with what looks like Benji's BBQ mates coaching next year. Benji should never have been put in this position in the first place. For those who say he is a communicator, gifted ,talented and knows his footy, I would agree. So use that talent on FOX or Channel 9.

I recall the Great Wally Lewis failing as a Coach, Brad Fittler, Andrew Johns (smart enough to skip coaching),Johnny Raper, Arthur Beetson and many others. The Best three Coaches of all time are in my opinion: Craig Bellamy, Wayne Bennet and Jack Gibson. None of these three were great players.

My only hope is that the proposed Review makes some redundancies prior to 2024 kick off.

This 2024 Season is doomed before it starts. So I ask the bleeding obvious question.

How completely incompetent are we? Don't bother telling me, 😡 I already know.

Chammas reporting that the GM appointment has been deferred until after the review. A couple of things. Firstly I think that is a wise move, secondly it also indicates to me that the review will happen sooner rather than later.

I thought that was key. Indicated to me that there are changes coming.

Or at the very least they may have learned a lesson in that it would look ridiculous to appoint a position and then have a review suggest something else. it would be insane to appoint anyone in management, let alone a new position prior to a review.

It's great to see that the majority of the board are taking the review seriously! I'm still in shock

However, given options were tabled, it seems either the chair or CEO weren't considering pausing for the review prior to play nights board decision.

Interesting listening to Lee on SEN, he was very annoyed about continual leaking off board discussions.

The constant feedback is that the club has factions and isn't on the same page, or as Brooks said he doesn't know who makes decisions.

The review gives us a unique opportunity, to achieve true alignment across management-from coaching team, head coach, GM Football, CEO and board.

That was quiet interesting the way Lee mentioned things being leaked to the papers. Sounds like he’s feeling a bit of pressure himself.

I would think he would be.

The pressure was there for Lee, the whole board and JP over the last 2 years in particular, getting worse with every decision that backfired.

In some ways the review, may take some of the personal pressure off since of the individuals, as I suspect they were trying really hard to do the right thing for the club, but out of their depth.

Putting aside the conflict of interest, I think the professional skills of Lee is great for the board and is the calibre we should have across the board.

However, I don't think he should be chair. I don't think an independent chair helps us in the position we are in.

My view is need a chair that is firmly within the balance of power of the HBG. A strong board has a strong leader - who has the conviction to see a plan through.

An independent chair mediates a committee - who will tinker and deviate from the path - as we have seen.

Look at the difference PVL has made to the NRL.

@helmesy I think it’s past the crossroad , the organisation is so poorly run .. if they do not get there act together quickly they will be pressured to relocate! It’s not just the performances on field it’s the totally unprofessional direction the clubs administration runs itself. The board needs to gets its act together or it’s over IMO , the leakers need to be removed for a start immediately!

Correct. They know who it is (and I have my suspicions as to who it is) and I reckon the review may be a lever to change these issues.

Per The Mole, who continues with his carpet bombing campaign against WT.

Farcical change proposals highlight Tigers woes

Tigers officials held a meeting last week to find ways of doing things better in 2024 after back-to-back wooden spoons.

I had a 'spy' in the room and he told me three main changes were decided up.

1. The gear steward will travel to away games half a day early to set everything up for the players.

2. Players will no longer be required to carry their bags on away trips.

3. The players will have beer after games in the sheds.

True story - with all their woes in the past decade, these are the moves the Tigers decided on to get out of their rut.

I can smell a three-peat of wooden spoons coming up!

Its just bitter, petty and nasty. Says a lot more about Tony Adams than the Tigers IMO.
