If the following is correct, I wonder if the NRL retained ‘ownership’ of the licence and the club only holds stewardship, and thus would the NRL be able to reallocate or transfer a licence.
No NRL club paid a license fee for its original entry into the league; rather, the league was built on the clubs themselves, and the initial entry was not a financial transaction in the way a modern franchise fee would be. Modern expansion teams, such as the Dolphins, have also not paid a licensing fee, which has been a point of contention for some existing clubs.
post super league, the ARLC has essentially unilateral power to remove a license. It’s easier if the club is financially failing (knights, titans, Balmain) but it can also be for governance a mismanagement issue. We are the worst performing club of the NRL era and we have annual governance coups. If not now then when for the NRL to step in and appoint an administrator.
I am a little hesitant about wests group because I don’t know much about them or their governance (anyone here an expert?) but they can’t be worse than the current mob or god forbid a consortium owned by Hagipantalis. I’d be happy to rename the club the western tigers or the MacArthur tigers and go all in on the south west, as long as a new owner could show they would be strong stewards of the club.

Macarthur Tigers would be a good idea
leagues club right next to a redeveloped CSS

I like the 90/10 wests group/balmain scenario where the 90 is actually wests Campbelltown. We play as WT in both grades and our junior base is centred in the MacArthur.
Just an aside, I have heard that certain parties around the HBG have been reticent to play at Campbelltown out of spite against the Wests MacArthur people.

this is not surprising at all. The blood feud between wests Ashfield and Campbeltown goes back to the 90s. Campbelltown was smart to get out when they did. The fact that they still pump money into our juniors and haven’t thrown their lot behind the dogs or panthers is a credit to them.

Does this not just clearly show how petty the HBG are...
Forget any of the other NRL opposition teams... HBG is our biggest enemy and they need to be stopped.

There’s simply no chance of success for the Wests Tigers when the owners don’t live, breathe and love it. Their hearts lay elsewhere (and that’s ok) but get out of the way of something that lots and lots of people care about.

@joel further evidence HBG board members are fixated with the resurrection of the Magpies. Wests Tigers are being destroyed from within.

Yeah, take it to the bank - certain influential HBG board members don’t care about the Wests Tigers and are trying to bring it down.

How can they possibly be doubling down on the claim that decisions being made were not done so with the HBG knowing, when they literally have board members from HBG sitting on the WT board!?
And the final quote to finish the article "What’s different this time is that for the first time we’re seeing the Holman Barnes Group board, the Wests Magpies board, the Wests Tigers board and even the Balmain board being more unified than they ever have before". He has to be kidding. The fans certainly aren't unified with HBG.

Billionaire Arthur Laundy has unveiled a surprise plan to buy the Wests Tigers amidst the fallout from the sacking of four independent board members.
A Sydney pub baron, Laundy is a major sponsor of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and lifelong Balmain Tigers fan.
The billionaire has revealed he will explore the possibility of buying out the Holman-Barnes Group, who currently own 90% of the Wests Tigers, and have come under fire for firing four independent board members after nine months in the job.
“It would be the only way they are ever going to survive,” Laundy told The Daily Telegraph.
“I can’t see how this (joint venture) can ever work so I’d be happy to look at buying Wests’ 90 per cent.
“Yes, I’m certainly prepared to look at it.
“I have a soft spot for Balmain, and I will always be a Balmain person."
The Daily Telegraph reports the Wests Tigers would be valued at $45-50 million dollars, with Laundy potentially tipping in $20m, and the remaining $30 million to be from a collection of other businessmen.
