  • @helmesy Yes I was wondering what the go was on the other forum......thought I must have been booted but couldn't understand why 🤔. It's good to know that it is "technical difficulties" and not a big shove 😂

  • Even after watching Richo, Barry, Julie & Simon on  the BTR podcast I still had my doubts, especially when Julie looked at Simon when both Barry & Richo said the Independent Board Members would be finalised by the end of the month. I found that REAL strange.

The video was definitely awkward, they should have done a second take.

I think they have been painted into a corner.

You can make an arguement that having a potential HBG veto over the WT is still required in the case that the WT board becomes dysfunctional. That is exactly what the last HBG board did, it sacked the last WT board for incompetence. They own WT and there needs to be some pressure release if the WT club is on the wrong track. That said it would only be a once in a generation requirement, in the ordinary course the WT should be run independent of its owner.

Agreed, there are other safeguards to keep the directors accountable as well.

Yes. But any new board members should be recruited, vetted and recommended by an external agency to ensure the Wests Tigers Board remains independent.

Correct, if you have skilled professionals and not those carrying a candle for a dead foundation club, HBG should never have to get involved (so long as they also leave it well enough alone).

@helmesy I wouldn’t be holding my breath getting a favourable result out of that meeting, Richo basically rammed what he wanted down their throats, may have said off camera my way or the highway

who selects the independent board member?

The HBG appoints the independent directors after the search is conducted by an outside recruitment agency.

All board members are supposed to meet the skills matrix.

When you say HGB is that the HGB board or their CEO / GM or someone at the top of their organisation?

and if its the HGB board or on that, is it Julie, Scott and 16 others?

@tigerwould it is the HBG board which now has only 4 members, all are debenture holders, none are elected.

and none can be an independent director of WT. I get the anxiety (I share it) but I just find it hard to imagine at this point when they have just said on camera they are going to deliver everything WT needs to be successful that they can try and fiddle with these board members too much.

HBG board appoints the directors, currently only 4 directors.

I don't trust those on HBG board but I am confident Richo has them where he wants them.
