@mickb do we know how long each Director has been on the Board?

One of the main Duties of the Board is to ensure that the WT win NRL games.

If the WT are not doing that and in fact not making the Final Series for 12 years, then surely they have failed in their Director Duty......

There's no formal means of keeping these people accountable. There is no way for anyone to assess whether they have failed in their duties as directors regretably The only body that can keep them accountable is the NRL and the NRL would only intervene if the club found financial difficulties. To the board's credit there is no such problem.

Other clubs like Canterbury and Parramatta have the opposite problem to WT in that there elections held every 3 years and rival 'tickets' jostle for position every election. We don't want to follow their example.

The alternative structure that I propose would see 6 board members in total

1. Wests Ashfield rep - (nominated by members of that particular football club)

2. Wests Campbelltown rep - (nominated by members of that particular football club)

3. Balmain rep - (nominated by members of that particular football club)

4. WT member rep - (nominated by the WT club members. WT club members vote on this board appointment. To be nominated you need to have held a membership for at least 5 years continuously)

5. Same as 4 above

6. Same as 4 above

I'd also propose club elections be held every 4 years at a minimum to avoid the musical chairs that happens at other NRL clubs. Board members must stand down after two terms.

The above structure overlooks the fact that Wests Ashfield are effectively owners of the club and can do what they want. That is why we are where we are. My suggestion represents a coalition of the competing interests but not realistically going to happen.

I like diversity, unfortunately for us diversity has meant factions and war, WA having complete control was meant to be good, however it seems to have just created malaise.

If I was restructuring the Wests Tigers Board I would just have separation between the Wests Ashfield and Wests Tigers board, i.e. that you can't be a director of both. This would create a level of accountability above the Wests Tigers board.

The only reason I asked about Directors tenure was to ascertain what Directors have been there the longest.
If they have been there for the past 10+ years then they should resign. They have been abject failures if that’s that case.
We need new blood….hell they can’t be any worse that what we’ve got now.

@garry exactly . It means the people on the leagues club board can fire those on the football club .
Once to twice a year , much like the company I work for , there’s a presentation to wests Ashfield about how the last year went , Andy and all funds that would like to added to the budget , and a clear breakdown on the performance of the club.
sure there would be some crossover , but generally there has to be some true accountability added to structure .

Wests Tigers boss Lee Hagipantelis ‘not interested’ in Alan Jones’ views

Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has responded to Alan Jones’ stinging rebuke of the club’s management.

Michael Carayannis, Brent Read and David Riccio

Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has resisted the urge to engage in a verbal stoush with Alan Jones declaring he was “not interested” in Jones’ views.

Hagipantelis came under surprise attack from Jones at last week’s Daniel Anderson fundraising lunch. Hagipantelis had paid about $10,000 to attend the event which was filled with club officials from the 17 clubs but left promptly after Jones launched an attack on the Tigers management, declaring the “fish rots from the head”.

Hagipantelis left shortly after Jones addressed the 600 strong crowd.

“I need to be careful how I do respond,” Hagipantelis said on SEN. “I don’t want to appear overly sensitive or make this all about me which apparently causes great offence to some sections of the media.

“Let me tell you, Tim Sheens was far more offended than what I was. When Alan completed his diatribe I just lost interest in remaining at the function so I tried to discreetly leave.

“I had work to do at the office so I told the boys I’d see them later. We had a Wests Magpies heritage night that night which I was looking forward to. I just left discreetly.

“By the time I got to the car my phone was blowing up about people asking me about leaving. I just said I had better things to do.

“Alan is perfectly entitled to his views, I am not interested in them. Whether or not that was the appropriate forum I would leave others to decide.”

@avocadoontoast he would be better off just saying nothing. He’s tried his best to hear but he can’t help himself.

leaving early because you have “work to do at the office” or “better things to do”? Why go in the first place?

I actually think his response this time was spot on, to be honest. Otherwise, people would constantly ask him about it and then say he is sulking when he didn't reply.

fair point. However the fact is he should have just stayed at the event and no one would even question it

Just for everyone’s information, on behalf of the podcast team, I have just sent correspondence to Simon Cook (Wests Ashfield) outlining our intention and process regarding the petition. I also sent him links to the petition and to our latest podcast.

Nice work Steve, thanks.

What we receive back from the club will give us an idea on what they think of their fans. We will decide our next move at that point, I will say once again that for myself and others who love this club, we will continue.

@avocadoontoast this guy …. Has absolutely no chill . Is he autistic ? Serious question . He just has no ability to understand social queues , and read the room .
Lee if you ever read this for whatever reason. When you’re being accused of being a narcissist, and absolutely putting your own self interest above the club, the absolute worst thing you can do , is behave the way you do when you’re criticised .
Mu son is autistic , and it’s literally world war 3 when he even remotely thinks he’s made a mistake . Zero emotional regulation , and ability to calmly think through and absorb the criticism , whether constructive , abusive , or simply just flat out corrective directions .
That sure does look like our current Chairman …
