No shock, Galvin just named 2024 WT Rookie of the Year.

Going by the interview I don’t think we’ll see Lauchie move to lock. Saying that he doesn’t like tackling doesn’t bind with him playing in the 13.

Im a big fan of playing the best players in their best position, particularly in the spine. Lachie is our best 5/8 (or potentially 2nd behind Luai) so just pick him there. Unfortunately for Latu that means he will be the one that gets shoehorned into a position, 14, 9 or 13 barring injuries.

I wonder how he’d go at right centre.

A bit of criticism around Galvin’s game in PNG. Fair call too, I was really disappointed in how he went. Let’s hope he’s not reading the headlines too much.

I agree with the criticism too. But Fittler is not a great coach - who knows what he told Galvin to do??

I'd be hesitant tp play him at centre, mostly because it negates his ball playing abilities. Im not a fan of having "ball players" as centres as I think it can disrupt the systems. Just get the centre to play centre. At 6, 7, 9, or 14 he can play to his strengths.

@helmesy sry I miss read the comment. I was referring to Galvin but I do think it applies to Fainu as well and I see him as a possible Lock. Even as early as next season.

I hope Galvin works out at 5/8, however we may actually see the truth of his ability once he is partnered with Luai and we have a benchmark to compare him against. I was very unimpressed with the way he played against PNG and truth be told he should never have been picked, a rookie 19-year-old playing in the halves in a rep team is not a smart move, especially for Australia where there is no shortage of talented more experienced players to choose from. fittler screwed over Stef and now may have done the same with Galvin.

He will be fine, It's not an issue, 18 year old playing with people he has never played with before in a nothing game in October.

In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
