Politis can moan all he likes. Fortunately the State Gov owns the Stadium. The Roosters deal is non-exclusive so stiff if other NRL teams get to play there.
PS it’s operated by the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust.
It is under control of venues NSW like the other state owned stadiums in NSW. The government have supported the Roosters claim by refusing to let Souths transfer their deal there, Souths have not even been allowed to train at the SFS.
The SCG Trust merged with Venues NSW, it is all one body now.
Yeah but the SFS is owned by the people of NSW, not Politis.
Looks like the operators are giving it to the Roosters.
If there are votes in it, they will give it to anyone.
Doesn't seem that way, they are blocking other teams playing there.
My read on it is that NSW Govt isnt blocking Souffs from playing there, they are holding them to their Contract at Accor.
Im not really a fan of playing at the SFS but a big part of me wants us to move there just to block Souffs out if/when their Contract ends at Homebush.
@mike Depends what Nick got in his contract for the agreement to play there for the next 25 years.
It’s not exclusive. They have the facilities there but that’s it.
Seems to be much more the Roosters than Bankwest is the Eels.

lol, blocking? Not quite. Trying to intimidate yes, but that won’t work once political pressure is applied. The one thing the Gov can’t be seen to have done is under-utilised a multi-million dollar investment by the people of NSW. Especially since the Gov won’t fund other re-developments. The SFS needs to be used and frequently. Politis can put any spin he likes on the situation but the reality is the SFS is owned by all the people of NSW, not just one very small segment of the population.
Souths have been told they can't play there.
No they haven’t. Politis is spinning that is exclusive a Roosters ground. It isn’t. Souths have a pretty strong case too seeing Stadium Australia will no longer be re-developed. Pressure will continue to mount on the Gov.
If you re-read the article, I dont think he is saying its Rooster exclusive ground. I think its their exclusive home and no one else can call it home and to be honest, he has a fair argument. REdfern was home for Souffs.

I dont think that is right. For one the nature of Trust is that it cant be sold or merged. I could be wrong but I think Venues NSW operates the SCG for the Trust.

Thanks for that Garry, suprising. This is NOT a good thing. For one, in the dealings I had with the SCG Trust years ago, they are a very powerful body and extremely arrogant and self centred. Secondly, when has a monopoly ever worked out for the better?

It’s much more a multi-use stadium than WSS.

Which is where I think the Roosters throwing their weight around has come from.

Ridiculous, if Rabbits want to play there they should be allowed and state government should be encouraging its use.

It makes sense for Souffs to play out of SFS, its less than a kilometre from Redfern, but it could leave Bulldogs as only tenants of Accor.
This is why it is ridiculous having hte Venue NSW monopoly. Why would the NSW Govt give money for LO when they want to push Tigers into a tenancy Contract.

Im not a fan of playing out of SFS because it feels too far from "home" but I'd love to lock the bunnies out.
