@tiger5150 Just one more of the many reasons this ground should be put in the past tense !

Why do these conversations every season need to be discussed… this club really needs to grow a set and move to a modern stadium that gives All its supporters the comforts they can supply its 2022 not 1970 honestly what a joke .. Why won’t the school let  us park there 😂😂😂

I love Leichhardt but the thought of getting over there on a Friday night and trying to find a park, a seat, and then getting out of there, for me at least, is way too much hard work.

Accessibility, parking etc etc is not going to change, new stand or no new stand.

I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time.

I haven't been as nervous about a game for a long time...

First game of the season we are expected to win, I have faith the boys will put in- but we are still missing our top hooker, fullback, 5/8 in the spine - along with wing, and 2 new centres.

All that hassle is worth it once you get inside the ground and soak up the atmosphere. A sold out Leichhardt with the ‘Tigers … Tigers …’ chant going. Best feeling in the world.

Also, I just get there early, park on Balmain Rd and never gave any problems. Easier leaving Leichhardt than it is leaving ANZ in my experience

$300m for a stadium in Penrith is a disgrace. That’s $1,400 for every person would lives in Penrith or $16,000 for each panthers member.

Surely Penrith fans could kick in some of their unemployment payments ...maybe Morrison could run on that platform 🤣

$300m sure is a grace and utter waste of money to knock down and rebuild this stadium. The grandstand on the far side is relatively new I think. Then again, Parra stadium and the SFS were quite modern and look what happened there. And yet, nurses, ambos and hospitals are desperate for more funding. This waste in building new stadiums doesn’t make sense to me.

Hopefully the $60m for Leichardt can deal with the possum in the commentary box

I agree, and that’s one reason why I think the AFL has it right in Melbourne - a couple of shared stadiums with great facilities, no wasting money trying to turn suburban grounds into something they’re not.

Question for you Garry. On the pod I think you say you live in Penrith but that LO is your favourite ground? Is it really that more difficult to get to SFS than LO on a Friday night? From a business perspective the commercial opportunities must be very significant if you could sell sponsorship packages to somewhere like SFS rather than CSS

Its not about difficulty of getting to a ground for me. I'm not advocating for what is best for me, I'm advocating for what I think is best for the club.

So how do we define what is best for the club? A lot of what is going right at the moment is because of investment that is being made (COE, pathways etc). Whilst I’m not happy with everything Pascoe has done and I think we have elevated commercial consideration above all else over last 5 years, perhaps that’s what we needed to dig ourselves out of the financial mess we were in and now we are self sustainable. So now we are in a position to make different decisions and make them without survival as being the short term objective. If we don’t think LO/CSS are ever going to be ideal for the long term option then it’s left with Commbank, ANZ or SFS to  supplement. Commbank is parramatta, anz is a wasteland and SFS is the jewel in the stadium crown, purpose built at the Sydney CBD with infinite commercial opportunities. Why wouldn’t accessing that financial windfall that can be reinvested into the junior pathways be in the best interests of the club

The issue is that every option is a compromise, there is no perfect solution. It ends up coming down to how much weight that you personally attribute to each of those issues. I think a team called Wests playing in the Eastern Suburbs is a risk in an oversaturated market that may face rationalisation.

Good signs at Leichhardt yesterday..given the time slot, conditions and opposition ..

Puts a case for the traditional ground..
