What is the story Im missing about the jersey?

The image of soldiers on the jersey is a stock image from the internet of American soldiers and an American helicopter.

The issue being it's not of Australian soldiers - so looks lazy and disrespectful

On its own, not the end of the world, slightly more egregious than looking at your phone in the dressing room. As part of an ongoing collection of screw ups, its starting to pile up.

So is this jersey thing going to be what finally sees Pascoe dumped?

I think it really depends, apparently it was designed in consultation with Holworthy Army Barracks, IF that is true and they sought approval for the design then I don't think it is much of a story.

If that isn't the case then this is a massive issue and hugely embarrassing for the club.

Don't think it matters Garry

Damage to club image already been done.

It 100% matters, IF they consulted and got approval for the design then that falls on whoever approved it.

But as Steve says perception is reality - everyone has seen the article and made up their mind about the club - (on top of a list of other errors which have made the media)

Pointing fingers at the army and saying it was their fault - isn't going to make us look any better.

At the end of the day, it q WT jersey so WT are reasonable for how we look and represent ourselves.  Only impacts WT not Army.

JP always says he take responsibility

I wouldn't be implementing any of this without working very closely, including design elements with the Australian Armed Forces, primarily with the RSL as they seem to be the once responsible in this area. If and its a big if, this has been done then I don't know how much more the club could have done, if it wasn't done then it is a massive mistake that is really unforgivable.

I agree, it's not a big issue in isolation.

But it's off a week where the CEO has been coping it for being too casual. You add the phone, the benji typo, delay in CEO due to paperwork, the doco, etc it's starts to tell a story that doesn't paint us in a good light - which is only going to hurt us when recruiting players, sponsors, etc

As a fan, I'm more worried about JP decision making in terms of the Farah cap issue, the current lack of a GM Football, the Cleary signing processes, the move away from junior development

I have stayed on the fence regarding JP up until the last 2 weeks - but it feels like it's got a momentum of its own and his time is up.

The WT media release says we did the design in conjunction with the apparel company- then had the whole jersey signed of by the Barracks and by NRL.

But the image wasn't provided by the Barracks it was provided by WT. And it doesn't say that the Barracks or NRL were asked to approve the image specifically.

But the fact we have had to release a media release to outline it wasn't our mistake and instead spread responsibility onto the Army Barracks- is just as bad.

Should just say - sorry we take responsibility, we will update before the game - instead of blaming others

This jersey thing is just another own goal by the club compounded by not taking responsibility for the error. Surely they can find a similar image to update the jersey with.

Hard to prove but the fact that it was announced as a “commemorative jersey” and not an ANZAC jersey might hint that the club knew that it was wrong before it was released. Other clubs that I have checked call theirs an ANZAC jersey.

Personally I find the idea of ANZAC jersey’s a bit disrespectful/cheap and would prefer all clubs found more solemn ways to honour the diggers but we are not alone as a club in making one of these jersey’s (and selling them for profit). We are the only club that would put a US soldier on our jersey because it reflects the ‘vibe’ of what a soldier looks like. Pascoe famously said that he was a relaxed dude who didn’t worry about the outside noise and it shows.

He used the duck metaphor - calm above the water, paddling like hell underneath.

Says it all.

For any other club this would be fairly embarrassing and followed up with an apology. For us it's business as usual.

In the past 7 days:

  1. Commemorative jersey feature american troops from a stock google image.
  2. Brooks loses 15th game in a row. Named at 7 again despite winning 2 of past 23 games.
  3. Sheens proclaims Doueihi best fullback at the club. Plays so poorly he's demoted back to the halves from where he was previously moved for poor play.
  4. Pascoe on the phone in the dressing room at half time, and kicking a ball on pitch pre game. Chairman Lee defends him on his nauseating radio segment.
  5. Pascoe does interview with Buzz Rothfield defending his idiocy and showing absolute zero self awareness.
  6. Sheens saying he hopes we can win during the bye round.
  7. Laurie liking posts of opposition player scoring against us.
  8. Tigers try to sign Mitchell Pearce, tells us to bugger off.
  9. Kepaoa, who has bulked up in the offseason to play in the backrow and performed well all year, moved to wing.
  10. Chris Heighington has his name spelt completely wrong by WT media team on tweet advertising latest episode of 'ask the boss'.

Did I miss anything?

I'm glad it's just American soldiers and not members of ISIS or the Taliban. That could have been a real doozy.

We are the most incompetent sporting team in Australia, professional or not. My son plays u/5 soccer and his club is better run.

We're a meme club and the joke of the NRL, and deservedly so.

Mate my son plays U8s soccer and we lined up for 45 minutes to get his team shorts, for the people standing behind us in the queue (and everyone behind them) to find out that I had picked up the last pair of kids' shorts.

Do I understand correctly - it's not American soldiers, it's just generic soldiers right, it's some stock photoshop thing they've licenced. They have no nationality.

I posted in the other forum, though that just leads to howls and cat-calling, that I think this is a very small issue, but I think Tigers have made a grave mistake by backpedalling and listening to the howls on social media. They should have pushed on and ignored it all.
