I’m not accepting anything less than top 8. A decade of no finals is a disgrace and I’m not prepared to say ‘well as long as they try.’
Make the 8 and give your thousands of dedicated supporters something to cheer about. Enough is enough!

And the consequence for not making the 8?

Same as every other year - ever growing disrespect from the entire RL community

Or we turn it around and win a few games!!

But what would you do if you were in charge and we fail to make the 8?

Well it’s not that simple. The question is what should have been done to avert the current situation. But to answer your question - if we fail again in 22 Madge goes as do expendable players (can’t turn over whole squad). I’d also say Pascoe would be under a lot of pressure.

The improvements to the squad for 2023 doesn't buy them more time?

No. Another failed year is unacceptable. They’ve had the time and money to get things right for 22.

For mine it does (barring a complete fiasco, zero wins).

I get the 2023 thinking and the fact our squad will be better then. But I just maintain it’s time to deliver. Enough waiting. I said this 12 months ago and we dished up possibly the worst year of performances in recent memory. We played poorly all year - well below the standard of the squad.

The club state that every year the goal is to win the comp. Well they need to play/coach/administer like this is a real intent. I believe average squads can achieve if they apply themselves and the whole group works together.

@tiger5150 I’m with Steve. The current coach is entering year 4 and Pascoe has been there for longer. If no finals this year heads need to roll. If we start poorly I think heads might roll even sooner.

With the Bengals season in the NFL I have probably soften a little on Madge. I was dead against him being here next season.

After seeing the Bengals improve from 2-14 two years ago and now winning the division it has shown the difference quality players can make. I hated the Bengals coach but now with quality players the Bengals will be in the play-offs.

  • I had similar concerns about game planning with the Bengals but that has turned around this season.  Maybe Madge can do the same now that we have some good players on the horizon.

Are you saying that the reasons that Koroisau and Papalii signed was because of Sheens ....not Madge ??

Wasn't the reason we signed no one of note in 2022 because no quality was available ??

@unhappy-tiger quality was available. They either didn’t want to come or wanted too much. We signed those that fit our strategy. Either way, our strategy and recent history has dictated our 2022 squad. This is a squad picked by coaching staff with reasonable money to develop the squad. We need to be competitive.

The club did a review and determined the future for our coaching staff. My expectation is that this year we are well coached and this is evidenced by good attacking and defensive structures

Pretty much what I have been saying all along. It’s the players talent, not Madge.

I'm still not convinced, but I like the signings so far for 2023. He needs to show better game plans next season to convince me, needs to do a better job of motivating players he has under him as well.

probably finish 12th this year. Madge survives and gets 2023 with Api and Papali and the like, we make the 8 in 2023 and he probably gets a year or 2 extension

@avocadoontoast

I would only agree if we can secure a better coach

Which I don't think we can or will at the moment , so we stick with madge

If we replace Madge ...who gets the job who is actually better than Madge

That is the problem in my eyes

This is the problem I have had for over 12 months now, if we were to replace him I would like to be confident of success. I believe there are only 2 coaches in the game that would give us a high chance of success, neither are going to come to the Wests Tigers. At the end of the 2021 season I was happy to see Madge go to give us some level of hope for 2022, I had given up on wanting to be confident, I was willing to settle for hope. The 2023 signings have given me a little bit of that hope, if we were to make a chance I am back to wanting to feel confident.

What verbose post lol.

I don’t disagree with this. But the coaching has to be better. We were poor in attack and defence last year and played with little passion. Significant changes have been made so I’m assuming the problem has been identified and rectified. But it’s not that simple. Players need to take responsibility as well, as do admin. Whole club needs to lift and I’m not happy to watch another year or sub par efforts. The club needs to be better now!

What I’m seeing actually indicates improvement is happening. It’s not all doom and gloom. My point is there needs to be significant effort leading to improvement now, not using a 12 month away goal as an excuse for another year of inadequacy

I don't see significant improvement in the roster, coach is the same. We need an improvement in player attitude to get an improved result for 2022. That is my hope for a better year, in saying that this squad as shown time and again that they are mentally weak.
