Some here have direct access to the club. It’s probably not a very pleasant workplace given the scrutiny the club is under each and every week. Some of the criticism is unwarranted, some is very warranted but maybe there are some constructive ideas that could help the club.

My start:

1) if we are promoting our pathways teams as being the future then the social media team should at the very least post live updates on the scores in the lower grades. Today is was impossible to find details of the Flegg game despite it being played at LO. Would it be difficult for the Wests Tigers Twitter account to post score updates as they come? Maybe even with info of the players so that supporters learn more about the players coming through?

I have recently asked this very question, I will raise it again next time I have an opportunity.

I agree TT seeing as our reserve grade and Nrl teams are performing so poorly you would think WTHQ would be doing everything in it’s power to show it’s supporter base what exciting young players are coming through the rank’s for something positive.

I am lucky enough to have regular communications with the club. We are supported by the club (guests and prizes) in running The Ambush and we try to seek clarification on rumours to help the fan base access accurate information. In doing this I have met a number of Wests Tigers employees from the top down and although I too get very frustrated with our plight I must say I often feel sorry for those at the club. Everyone I’ve met has a deep passion to do the right thing and improve the club. The constant pressure from a frustrated fan base and a frenzied media pack must take its toll. Although sometimes self inflicted, everyone is putting in. They are all just like you and me, and are not immune to the criticism.

@tigersteve This is probably something a lot of the fan base don't understand too well Steve. I received a call from the club a few days ago regarding my email address. I hadn't updated my new one. I spoke to Elouise. She asked me at the end of our short conversation if I was going to the game and I replied yes, I love the club and I'll always be there no matter how tough times might be. She replied, almost in relief I thought, how good that made her feel. It was just a sense that she needed to hear something positive and despite what a lot of fans do think you can always find positives if you look for them. Pole, Matamua and Tupou are positives, they look to have bright futures, Stefano looked better last night, Joffa is going great, AD is back, The Flegg boys are doing well, the Cubs were great last week, The Harvey Norman Women's team are in the GF, The Centre of Excellence opens this week etc. You can be critical of anything, it's probably easier in many cases than being positive, the socials are fast becoming platforms for outrage especially when it comes to sport. That's not to say there isn't a time for criticism but it can build to the point where it becomes harmful rather than helpful. And I'm one of those who believes it should help. We all like to express our opinions on the club and we all want it to be successful. I think we just need to consider that sometimes our criticisms can create more harm than good, is that what we really want?

Good post mate, I think there have been a few cases where the criticism aimed at this club has been harmful. I was even told yesterday of a situation where people are including family members in their criticism of the people running our club. This is just not on.

@garry That’s certainly disappointing Garry. Hopefully those type of things are few & far between. I just doesn’t help anyone. I was meaning to see you guys last night but we’ll catch up another time. I’ve yet to meet Declan yet too but I figure he already has too many old blokes bothering him when it comes to footy talk.

Constructive Feedback #2.

we need a weekly injury update. How are Tommy Talau and Shawn Blore doing? These were meant to be 2 important first graders and we’ve barely heard about them. This stuff feels like bare minimum fan content. Does the club have a full time position for social media management?

the last media release from the club was 22/3/22. With all due respect, what on earth is going on?

I didn't make the game last night as I have been sick all week.

Absolutely spot on TT.

Given the barrage of negative reporting across all media towards WTs I would think it an absolute imperative to have a savvy media mind/minds.We’ve been on the receiving end of blatant lies, semi lies, all sorts of innuendo, all the while painting us in a most unfavourable light. We’re losing the propaganda and image battles as well as the games.Look at the Cameron Ciraldo case. The amount of negativity broadcast around our plight may have well been a contributing factor to his turning us down,as with the case of less than perfect outcomes recruitment wise.

A smart media department can debunk a good deal of the BS,deflect and transform negatives into positives.

If the last media release was the 22/3 that is surely a slap in the face to the fan.Ive been very curious as to Tommy Talau’s status(remember Bellamy wanted him)and have heard zero.At least last year we were receiving regularly updated injury reports amongst other things.

The PR and media department needs a complete rethink imo.

in the NFL the club releases a press statement when a player is put on 'injured reserve.' This should be mandated in the NRL also.

As an example, Oliver Gildart did not play reggies last night. Was he unfit or what?

I reckon it’s just a matter of no one taking the initiative to go and talk to the footy department on a regular basis.
