Can I just say, great field goal today and a couple of really good conversions, but I’m not sure we’ve found Adam’s position.

Terribly set up that field goal, but just went with the flow of the day. I think he could make the position his. But the 6 that played today was pitiful‼️

The set up for the field goal was going to be picture perfect but Luai made a break and came within a metre of scoring a try. Can hardly blame him for going for it and I thought the team scrambled well to get the kick off.

As far as Luai being pitiful today, Ill have to go and watch the replay because at the ground I thought he was close to our best and would ahve gotten the 3 points from me today (without watching the replay). In particularly defensively today Luai was enormous and Ill go as far as to say we lose that game with anyone other than Luai at 6 today.

He was fine at 13. He has had very few reps in that position and being in that position on the field allowed him to kick conversions and the final field goal. No one owns that position for us. Let’s see how he goes between now and year end but Douhie on the field makes us better.

Id offer him a Contract for next year, commensurate with a probable position of 14 (maybe 13). Valuable as a utility, not a specialist at any position although some hope at 13 (too early to tell IMO).

Adam 'Clutch' Doueihi earned his check again this week. Let's leave him at 13 and let everyone settle in their current positions for the rest of the year.

If AD is looking for a one year extension, sign him now.

I'm wondering if any one feels as strongly as I do that WTs should resign AD for 2026?

Any appetite to start a petition? Apparently it worked for Souths re-signing Johnston

I think the offer of around $350k that has been rumoured is pretty much spot on for a bench utility player.

Can’t agree on that one TigerStu.

AD is a bit rocks and diamonds for us. As is Starford Toa, they can win us a game every now and then, however are extremely inconsistent. It's that view where the difference between their best a worst is too wide. Taylan May was able to show up both AD and Toa in that one game he played.... let's see if he can do that week in week out and if so, then that's our baseline for a centre. Unless AD can make a fist of 13 than I agree he is a utility player that should not be in your starting 13 and probably playing 14 or coming in from reserves to cover injuries so not worth more than $350k.

How many game winning plays or successful games at lock would it take to change your mind?

I like him and his tenacity but he’s not the answer at fullback, centre, half or lock. Put him through the shredder and find someone with more impact.

I think you’re right. He’s too much half and not enough middle when he is playing 13. Unfortunately we need Latu to improve quite a bit to take away the need for an extra half on the field in Douhie. Not sure who is the solution though. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui is the dream option, someone we should throw big money at. Between api, Latu, Luai and Bula we should have more than enough playmakers

Ok so Douhie remains which I assume means Benji thinks he is in our top 17. I don’t like him as a centre because he does little to help those outside him and we can’t use his kicking game from that position.

as a half he is too slow over 10 meters and lacks finesse in his passing game.

i can see the idea behind using him as a 13 now that his atttiude in defence has improved and being in the middle limits his need for lateral movement. As a first receiver in attack that can push our halves wider where there skills are more useful (both Latu and Luai play like 5/8ths) and they can develop combinations with their 2RFs and centres. The key is that he needs his role to be defined and structured, receiving the ball in certain parts of the field with a certain purpose ie we need to develop a structure that matches his and Latu/luais games. That will likely take an off season to develop but it has the potential to work so now that he is here for a bit longer we need to find the system that makes it work. It also improves our bench options because douhie can cover the backline also and a prop can cover 13 if needed so it allows you more flexibility in bench choices. We still have a question of how to give Api a spell for 20min. Our recent recruits seem to be more rangy back row depth rather than small forward/hooker coverage. It is a cheap deal for the club though and all the other signings so far are depth so we should have good money to go after a starting prop.

off contract players we can target:

Keaon Koloamatangi (2026)

Tino (player option)

Nelson Asofa-Solomona (off contract at end of 2027 but has played a lot of NSW cup for storm and is on a giant 900k a year contract. I would guess storm would let him go and would have contribute a bit of his contract)

The key point being we are only a couple of players away from a genuine contender and we have Luai and Benji as big draw cards for the pacific island players.
