Thanks

After 2 early wins I was very confident we would at least  win more than 4 this year and my hope was many more than 4.

The lack of effort in the spoon bowl, securing the 3rd spoon, when there was so much to play for, for the fans.

Ability to stay in a game for longer than 2023, not giving up (most of the time).

Underperforming senior players on big money.

Samuela Fainu

Sione Fainu

- the moment you were filled with hope: comprehensively beating the sharks at Leichhardt

- the most disappointing moment of the year: several, but the dragons game in Wollongong probably stands out

- area of greatest improvement: various kids showing they're up to it, Galvin and Sam Fainu first and foremost

- area of greatest concern: the board and general malaise at the administration level. Needs to be sorted well before we get to round 1 or we're stuffed for a few more years at least.

- Best 2024 recruit from another club? Sam Fainu

- Most underrated Player in 2024: Bula

Always enjoy the pod, so thanks to everyone for keeping us informed and entertained.

Hope - 2 early wins. I thought finally out of the tunnel and into the light but alas no. More pain was to come.

disappointing - Senior Players/Spoonbowl. That was all there to win. The kids tried hard but were let down yet again by the more senior players

Improvement - Definitely worked how to score in the red zone, at last.

Concern - Defence. Now need to work out how to defend as a unit. Again the senior players were often lacking and letting the younger blokes down.

Best from another club - Fainu Brothers, all of them, but especially Sam

Underrated - Seyfarth. He improved out of site. Runs great lines and defence is strong. Managed to keep his cool in the final month or so of the season.

Hope - 2 early wins

disappointing - all of the sun bins. Some deserved, some not. The bulldogs game early in the season was the worst. We were up, then copped those two sin bins in the final 10.

improvement - no leaks in the media (not by us anyway, player managers are a different story)

defence/fitness

recruit - Jordan (podcaster) Fainus (players)

underrated - I’m in the minority here but I reckon Twal and Bula both get unnecessary heat. Twal is a fit, solid player stat wise which would hold his place in any other team. Bula has plenty of development to go, but…for many years I feared any kicks to our backs (think AD, mbye, nofo) but Bula has been sooo safe that I take it for granted these days that a bomb will be disposed.

- the moment you were filled with hope

The Round 3 win v Cronulla. A complete performance against a top team.

- the most disappointing moment of the year

The post-bye loss to the Dragons. Continuing that bad habit of losing our way after a bye. The second half was appalling.

- area of greatest improvement

Identifying and developing a few young players. The promise shown by Galvin, Laulili, the Fainu brothers and Johanssen is cause for optimism.

- area of greatest concern

Defensive resilience, which collapsed after the second bye, and that lingering concern that the culture is still not right.

- Best 2024 recruit from another club?

Samuela Fainu.

- Most underrated Player in 2024

Alex Seyfarth. The guy puts in every week. He has improved his discipline through the second half of the year. And as for his howler v Parramatta, well, he only was able to throw that pass because he got to the ball. All effort.
