What a sublime and gutsy little player was Brett Hodgson(M.O.S).Carved Brisbane that day.
Remember him tackling a rampaging Adrian Morley front on at SFS in 2004 I think. He saved the try stopping Morley in his tracks.Unfortunately he ended up in Disneyland and carried off. What courage. We lost 20-0!

for an old balmain fan to see Buckets score that try in the semi against Brisbane was well deserved, him and Skando from a magpie side of the JV both toiled in crap teams and got rewards in 05
Nothing beats the st George semi in 2005 seeing all those Dragons fans at the end of the game in tears they were so cocktails before the game and the big St George flag that the red v draped down over the fans behind the goal posts before the game and the deafening said George Chant
Then Marshall crossed early and the silence
Right on Jedi!It was a beautiful thing, first the Broncs, then the detested St George who were expected to win. There was an incredible energy and response from the crowd when we withstood the initial onslaught from the Broncs, but then went on to undress them and put em to bed. What dreams are made of!
Then St George, and I can say I’ve never experienced a game like that, nor an atmosphere. You hear all the cliches about atmosphere and the energy of the crowd and tend to interpret it as hype, but that evening was my baptism and those cliches became reality; therewas a palpable electricity in the air.An hour before that game both supporter bases were at work, going at each other and it just continued to build.Unbelievable.
Strangely, for me,and being in attendance ,the GF never reached those atmospheric heights even though I was overjoyed.
But now, here in 2022 we continue to dream...Year of the Tiger!

Agree 100%. That game eclipsed the grand final for me. I will never forget the crowd noise when the Tigers ran out to warm up. I’ve never experienced that atmosphere before it since

The SFS was pretty good. The new one will be even better.

Should be our home ground. Let’s ask @garry what he thinks 😂
@tigersteve Perhaps it has something to do with perennially being on the receiving end,and not getting to experience success on a regular basis. One thing I’ll say though,is when it does come knockin’,how sweet it is!Roy Masters wrote a magnificent piece after that grand final win,and the theme of it reinforced and championed the amalgamation of the two long suffering and culturally similar sides.
@tigersteve Sorry I don’t,it’s in my recollection but I imagine it would be in the SMH archives where Roy was regularly contributing at the time.
