It’s hard to judge players in different eras and in different sides, however, who has been the most naturally gifted and all round best player you’ve seen play the game?
For me, I’ve got to say Ellery Hanley for natural ability. Deceptively strong, quick and skilled, he’s right up there.
Overall though, it has to be Andrew Johns for me. His skill set and ability to lift the sides he played in was pretty incredible.

As much as I hate saying it, I have to say Andrew Johns as well. I don't think I have seen anyone else dominate games in the way he did.
In memory of Geoff Chisholm (1965-2022)
Andrew Johns great halfback and in 95 played hooker for test team and origin. His kicking and passing great and he could tackle very well. He made good players around him great
on an impact perspective Ellery Hanley was fantastic for balmain in 88 very strong and fast great centre
Andrew Johns is the obvious one but I’ll throw in Wally Lewis. Dominated games from start to finish. Great passing and kicking game, tough and tactically brilliant. I will always question the fact he didn’t play tough footy week to week when in his prime but his dominance in origin and for Australia was masterful.
