So what's your suggestion, and you can't say what's been said a thousand times before? 🙂I’m disappointed with the entire season not just this one game.
Brooks defence was good today but we didn’t score a point, and never looked like scoring. That’s on both halves.
Johnson at 7 and Schuster or Walker at 6 and we’re a completely different side.
it must be so frustrating for the forwards.
Our halves need momentum through offloads to play off. Our forwards refused to offload the ball, so that meant we relied on set plays off decent go forward. Brooks, Wakeham and a a green Bula won't break down a Souths defence. Our game plan in attack is wrong.
Boy we are screaming out for a Johnson, Schuster, Cody walker type player.
Brooks scored 48 supercoach points which is a normal stat but Wakeman only had a meager 23pts. Compared to Ilias also meagre 23 but Walker 60.
Going by those figures it suggests Brooks was not the weakest link but Wakeman with Walker the difference. 🤔
Side note.... We have to get Stef running from the back fence on an edge and into the gap, have to pull the edges in then hands.....easy!
Agreed mate. The few times we did offload we looked good. Our forwards refused to offload the ball,

spend some time working on red zone attack. Try and come up with something different, be creative. The club has also identified this as an area of concern as they are going after every half available.
As a footnote I’m a fan. It’s not my job to come up with the solutions but I can see the issues. I’m disappointed because we have the team to do better and we’re not.
As a team we’ve had:
the highest percentage of possession in the comp
most forced line drop outs
most 40/20s
in the top 3 in tackles inside the 20
Yet we have the worst attack in the comp.
Hopefully we can sort out a few positional issues and have a real crack next year.

@the-last-ronin good response mate. Chin up, it's not the first time we've felt like this.
Out of the two halves it's glaring that Wakeman isn't in the class of say...Walker for souths. Have a look at the stats tonight and it shows this is the case.
In Wakeman's defense he hasn't had too much time in the NRL but I'm not making excuses just being realistic.
I believe we should persevere with him and see what eventuates, what have we got to lose...our dignity? We lost that when then Roosters nearly put 80 on us last year
I'm still hopeful that we can get a few wins this year. Don't expect more than that.

We will get a couple more wins.

Hopefully we can get a half or two signed for 2024 in the next couple of weeks.
Wakeham tries hard but he’s NSW Cup level.
Brooks is what we all know - an individual player that doesn’t quite have it consistently enough to take a team up a level.
We were beaten but not disgraced - it is frustrating though because the things that need fixing have been identified but solutions not found.

Unarguable that our attack wasnt good enough today, especially not scoring a point, but Brooks did have a good game. his defence was exception but even his attack was good. That new (obviously coached) tactic of passing long cutting out the 2RF worked really well. not sure why we stopped using it. I wish Brooks had pinned his ears back when Bula put him into that gap rather than the kick.
Agreed we didnt score a point and our red zones attack isnt good enough, but Brooks played well. Wakeham was invisible.
What is very strange is that we have seen several different attacking ideas displayed over the seasons ie brooks and wakeham ball playing back inside to runners (bulldogs fight back), Api run around (eels and Manly) and now the cutout 2rf. What is strange is that we don’t go back to these different ideas during the game depending on what is happening. The inside game seemed like an obvious option today given how tired everyone was but we don’t seem to use Bula at all in attack.

He would have been better kicking for himself on that play. He tried to get cute and the kick was a dud. To be fair he was trying to sum up the situation in seconds and at pace so it’s difficult
