Don’t get me wrong but Brooks just seems to go to water when the pressures on. Those two kicks that went sideways are his career in a nutshell. We had to score first yesterday and he hasn’t got the skill to deliver. Never has and never will. if we get a Shaun Johnson to play 7 then Brooks can play 6

I agree. I was more defending Wakeham as he is the level everyone knows he is. Brooks on the other hand seems to have people insisting he’s a first grader

I think we are putting too much emphasis on our halves for yesterdays loss. Whilst I agree Brooks needs a new club and Wakeham is playing to his ability, the bigger issue for me was our lack of supporting the ball carrier and some poor options Talau took when he was in space. The forwards were poking their noses through the line but there was no one around for an offload and Talua runs straight at a defender (twice) thinking he can steamroll him rather than setting up his outside man. The halves I thought did their job, Brooks was very good in defence.

I think we need to replace both Wakeham and Brooks.

In the end it really didn’t matter what he did in defence because we could have played for another two weeks and wouldn’t have scored. He has no creativity at all. We could have played a prop at 7 and the score would have been the same. The break he made was a great ball he received from Bula and he bottled it by doing a poor kick.
I know you are very passionate about him being in the team next year but it’s not in the clubs best interest to sign him. His best is not good enough for us, regardless of price.

don't think we can get a new 6 and 7 not much out there, can probably get one or the other.
could be the smartest thing the club has done in a while for salary cap management, if he gets no offers and it is October he may will sign for 400k or so which is 600k less they can put towards a centre like koula.
Think the club is in no rush they will hold out and offer a 200 game veteran a greatly reduced contract. Another reason he is a big chance to be re-signed is Douhie is done and the club don't have halves around as backup.
I dont think Johnson leaves new Zealand and if he does I fear it might be the Sutherland version we get not the happy and content Johnson but at 600k probably worth the punt but don't think we get him.
Brooks’ kicking game in good field position was poor yesterday. Very disappointing given he had been pretty good the last month.
johnson/brooks bridge to the juniors is my preferred option then picking up a talented but unproven young half from elsewhere.
