especially not scoring a point, but Brooks did have a good game

I think that is the problem right there, he played a good game today but just isn't creating enough opportunities. Even at his best he hasn't been creative enough in the redzone.

spend some time working on red zone attack. T

I'm sure they are doing this...remember a couple of games ago big Alex took the ball up and prior impact he turned his back on the d then passed back to the half to outplay. I know that's an oldie but I haven't seen us doing that before.

I'm sure we're trying but as everyone keeps saying we have halves probs.

I just refuse to believe we are not training to be better in the red zone. Flog a dead horse or build...time will tell I guess. One thing is for sure, you can't knock Brook's commitment.

@crowsnest yep Brooks is committed he just isn’t up to it. Prior to the start of the season I thought with the pack we had and the style of footy we were going to play he would flourish. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. Yes he tackled well today and did some things well in attack however his number 1 role on the job description is to get us trys. He hasn’t done that despite some of the best opportunities in the comp he is outside the top 50 in try assists which means he has less than 3.

This is unarguable....on his own. If he had help it might be different. We need to replace at least 1.5 halves. Wakeham is trying and 100% playing his best, but isnt good enough. We MUST replace Wakeham as a priority and then look at replacing Brooks.

I agree completely, but the replacement needs to be a halfback and not a 5/8th. Preferably we replace both.

I'm happy with that effort.

I’m not. Attack was awful. Forwards were great. Halves weren’t.

At nil nil Luke had two kicks in the red 20 …. HORRENDOUS end of story!!

pin point one of these maybe different story. But such is Luke 🤷‍♂️

Agree with that, we need an organising half with a good passing game and kicking game, particularly in the red zone. Brooks can go to 6 unless we get a better 6 adn then Brooks goes. My point being we have struggled to recruit halves for a long time. IMO its unlikely we snap up an NRL quality pair. Wakeham goes, Brooks can play 7, 6 or KOE depending of if we can recruit a 6 AFTER a good 7.

@loganr21 so wakeham played we today ? please he is not nrl level

if we get a Shaun Johnson to play 7 then Brooks can play 6

For the remainder of the year I would give Laurie a run at 6 with brooks

I'm not sold on the idea of an organising 7. We are getting around the field well, getting into attacking positions. I want a 7 that can open us up in the red zone and consistently get repeat sets.

We have the most tackles in the red zone because we can get into good field position but we can't open up the defence.

i agree with you and Ive used the wrong word with organising. I want 7 that can look up when running at a defence (particularly in the red zone), see when a defender has pushed in and pass out to a centre rather than a predetermined short ball (or vice versa). Why I use the word organising is that every great 6 or 7 Ive played with would talk to you (as an old FB) a set before and say "when this happens, run here".

Brooks created more chances than Wakeham. IF Wakham is not the problem, he sure as hell isnt the solution. Clearly neither half is creating enough chances in their 20,

I thought Laurie was horrible today in the KOE. He look totally disinterested at times. I was a fan but the time has come to move him on as well.
