@jedi-tiger The 7 is going to be interesting to watch as the season progresses, Maddens kicking game alone we have forgotten what a good kicking game looks like and the importance it has on a game . Ad or Luai have not got a tactical kicking  game which is so important , I am a huge advocate of a tactical kicking game as it gives positional advantage and saves energy for the team .

@snake Haywood, Andrews and that Logan guy will be handy too. Still wasn’t impressed with the forwards that much. But they held their own.

next week against a likely full strength penrith will be a good test

@snake I just wonder how much pressure could actually go on Jerome this season. Especially with try assists, but he’s going to have a gun edge to work off.
But today was a breath of fresh air when it came to a halfback role.

My one word - Hope

not Tristan but for the season. Unfortunately for Tristan and Mason, I think we have much better options in Haywood, Attard, Andrews and Madden. Young Brookes did well and Kit was energetic. Happy for Murray l and don’t want to say anything about Maka to not put pressure on him.

love the jersey by the way!

A bit out of practice with the one word response but I think I will try ... Promising ... and hopefully delivering will follow soon behind.

After the first 20 to 30 mins I was maybe thinking Business as Usual but great resolve to turn it around, some solid work from the pack and real enterprise from the #7 and those outside him.

Honourable mention to Charlie Murray. Breakout game for him. Makasini showed his true potential too. I'm allowing myself to be excited, today.

My one word is “PRESSURE”

These young kids played well and especially liked the performance of Jock Madden at 7 and have applied pressure to the top squad.

Doueihi is going to have to be playing well and improve his kicking game to keep Jock out of the team if Jock continues this form. Jock is also the type of halfback that will suit playing alongside Luai.

Also Makasini looks so good… might be difficult to resist on the left wing… imagine the left side of Sam Fainu, Luai, Tiny May, Makasini…!

Mason could be a Smokey for 14… especially if he keeps playing this middle role off the bench… imagine sure he could cover 9 and 13 for spells.

BTW loved how these jerseys looked on-field… I truly hope these remain our jersey design for years to come… love both the orange and the white and have purchased both… just makes them better for me that HBG doesn’t like them 😂

Watching it this morning as had cricket yesterday.

Lots to like and a few players stood out - Haywood, Makasini, Murray, Attard and for me Sukkar in the forwards.

Thought the effort especially to come back against a very experienced Roosters side in half 1 was great. First 20 mins they had lots of ball and we let in a couple of tries but kids came back strong.

My ultimate one word summation of the game against the Roosters is Composure. There are quite a few more words one could have chosen but  essentially the team performed very well and never looked overawed or despondent when on the wrong end of the scoreline. They completed at a very high percentage and kept mistakes to a minimum, all the while pursuing an attacking game plan.A few missed tackles but overall looked a pretty confident, well drilled outfit.I’m very mindful of the fact it’s only our first hit out,but equally very pleased of how it reflects on our squad depth and the coaching department.I heard some critics during the week having a few cheap shots at Benji’s expense and of his contract extension.Early days, but I believe he and the coaching staff can take plenty from the team’s performance.Bravo!

Sukkar looks to have bulked up. Who needs Tallyn when you have Haywood.

IMO Luai will and should have zero pressure on him. AD & Latu on the other hand will and should. Madden impressed me last night.

I wont bang on about it any longer because Ive made it clear here, but AD is (IMO) not the answer at 7. We know this becaus eit has been tried over and over again and him getting older and slower isnt going to make it better. IMO Latu is the answer, but he hasnt been given a chance (due to coahces decisions and injuries). Madden is a very interesting and curious wild card in the situation.

I actually thought Mason was poor last night. Play broke down every time he touched the ball. not entirely his fault, he was played at lock and he isnt a lock. Beside a lack of the required skills he is simply too small.

Additionally the new rules around the bench will kill him off as a true "jack of all trades" is no longer required (and we have better).

@tiger5150 Mason will not play much of a part in first grade this season ..if he does injury’s will be diabolical , seen enough talent  yesterday to think he will be well down in the pecking order thought that straight from the get go when he was not playing at fullback and he certainly is not suited for the forwards .

@mac_tiger Haywood’s body is not ready still very much a teen body … has the goods but will need to strengthen up that body could play short minutes to relieve API but not anymore at this stage just have to be patient.
