I'm truly surprised Doueihi is 7 again, I thought we'd go back to Latu. But I guess pretty hard to move him after the last game he had.

No Bird anywhere? He's truly on the outer it seems.

Glad to see Hunt given another off the bench.

What's the weather forecast?

My concern is Koula, and now we have Lehi at centre as well...our backs really need to be switched on in defence. Will be interesting to see if Tom is switched back to centre and Lehi FB.

I would have selected Latu at 7 and kept Manly guessing.

If I were picking the side;

6. Luai

7. Doueihi

13. Latu

AD deserves another crack after the Dogs performance. His long kicking game compliments Luai's short kicking in the attacking zone. I would let Latu feed it both directions from around the middle and tell him to run when he sees the opportunity to do so.

Serious question. What aspects of AD's game did you see last week that was good halfback play? Why could he not kick long from 13? Everything you want AD to do and everything he did last week he can do as well or better from 13. Latu is clearly the long term plan for 7 and not AD. Why continue to delay?

I'd go

6. Luai

7. Latu

13. AD

Hello mate. I honestly think and purely based on what I have seen, that Latu is stronger in defence at lock compared to AD and runs harder at the defensive line. It's hard to argue that AD wasn't good in the 7 last week and I think he deserves another crack at it.

You're right, AD can general play kick from 13 so I have no issues there. I wouldn't be unhappy with your lineup either 👍

AD was good but was that because he was in the 7?

Every long kick from Adam makes Batman look more like robin imo

cant AD kick from 13?

Probably could but what I’d like to see is if Madden gets a run up at Brisbane the next month. I’d like to see where his game is at. Cause he could possibly start at 7 for us next year.
It’s still the million dollar question who will be playing next to Robin next year. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Its a $500,000.00 question actually.

i Would have picked Latu and 7 and played him at 7. At some stage Latu needs to be given the keys and against his old club would have been the perfect chance. A reminder that Benji's preferred spine has played zero games together. Seyfarth suspension perfect to slot AD at 13.

I think it’s just back to the original plan to bring Latu into his spot at 7 in a more controlled manner. AD’s recent performances has taken the need away to throw Latu into 7 immediately. Latu’s transition can now be at a more desirable pace.

Reports Makasini will debut this weekend!

I sure as hell hope NOT‼️

Why not?

Actually don’t see the point at this time of the year. I think if he deserves a spot at the start of next season then yes go with it.

@teddy_s  what if he’s been the best centre in training all year , but only didn’t get picked because of the age rule .  Shouldn’t he be rewarded for his patience ?
pure hypothetical , but yea that would be the alternate narrative .

He’s still playing school rugby, sure he’s looked good in state cup but so has Faatape and co. Our backline has been hit by injury and other disruptions that has caused a lack of cohesion. Adding in ‘Mac’ just inflates the cohesion aswell.

@teddy_s so there’s no reward for everyday training ? Based on an idea that the longer you wait the more prepared you will be. When everyone knows cup doesn’t really prepare anyone for 1st grade because of the huge jump .

what do you mean inflates the cohesion ?
I don’t understand sorry what you’re trying to say.

The most dynamic training grounds are ones where there’s completion for spots . Everyone trains harder ,is more switched on , and attentive , as they know there’s someone just as good on the opposite side of the drill .
it’s not like these guys are training 1hr a week every Thursday night . Rotating in and out ,  should have no bearing on cohesion . When they’ve been training there all year . Which Makasini has . He’s just in opposed team all year .

How’s the confidence levels at this point? I can see us winning, but Manly can be so hot and cold too.

Mixed feelings on what the outcome might be (as you say Joel, manly can be hot and cold) but one things for certain, the bye has made me hungry for footy! Let’s go boys!!!
